Sadio Mane to wear No.17 shirt at Bayern Munich
Sadio Mane will wear the No.17 shirt at Bayern Munich, the record champions have confirmed.
Mane, who wore the No.10 at Liverpool, completed his move to Bayern on 22 June.
"I picked out 17 from the free jersey numbers at FC Bayern and aim to celebrate many successes with my team and this number," Mane told the Bayern website.
"Now I'm really looking forward to starting preparations for the season with my new teammates very soon."
Mane inherits the No.17 from former fringe player Michael Cuisance, who left Bayern in January 2022. Decorated defender Jerome Boateng, ex-captain Mark van Bommel, Christian Ziege and Thorsten Fink have also worn the number.
Mane spent the last four seasons with the No.10 on his back at Liverpool, having donned No.19 - Alphonso Davies' squad number at Bayern - between 2016 and 2018. He wore 40 at Red Bull Salzburg, as well as 33 and 21 for Metz. The No.10 shirt, held by Leroy Sane at Bayern, is his current choice with reigning Africa Cup of Nations champions Senegal.

Mane could make his Bayern debut in a pre-season friendly against DC United on 18 July. The 30-year-old forward's competitive bow is likely to be in the Supercup against DFB Cup holders RB Leipzig on 30 August, with his first Bundesliga appearance set to follow away to Eintracht Frankfurt six days later.
Mane's choice of number was received well by previous owner Boateng - now at Lyon in France - who congratulated him on Twitter: "Good choice Sadio, I hope it brings you success - keep the legacy going."
