Hamburg 2-1 Eintracht Braunschweig
Goals: 1-0 Ramos (25’), 2-0 Pherai (26’), 2-1 Kaufmann (62’)
Hamburg made it seven wins from seven at the Volksparkstadion with a 2-1 win over Eintracht Braunschweig, although they were made to sweat for all three points. Things were going according to plan for the Red Shorts when two goals in a minute from Guilherme Ramos and Immanuel Pherai put them in the driving seat. Fabio Kaufmann brought the combative guests back into the game on the hour mark, though, and he thought he had snatched an equaliser only for VAR to rule it out for offside, and allow the home fans to celebrate a win which keeps them breathing down the neck of city rivals St. Pauli at the top of the table.
Hannover 2-2 Hertha Berlin
Goals: 0-1 Niederlechner (29’), 0-2 Klemens (45’), 1-2 Nielsen (67’), 2-2 Voglsammer (80’)
Hannover came from two goals down to salvage a point against Hertha Berlin and keep their promotion push going. Goals from Florian Niederlechner and Pascal Klemens gave the Old Lady a deserved half-time lead after a dominant display from the resurgent guests. Their three-game unbeaten run looked to be in no danger of ending until Havard Nielsen gave the hosts hope halfway through the second half. Hannover were now in the driving seat and, after Andreas Voglsammer brought them level with ten minutes to play, they had momentum on their side to snatch a winner. However, it was Hertha who found a second wind and went closest to snatching all three points, thought the draw keeps their recent unbeaten run intact.
Hansa Rostock 2-3 St. Pauli
Goals: 1-0 Brumado (9'), 1-1 Saliakas (15'), 1-2 Hartel (19'), 1-3 Afolayan (23'), 2-3 Brumado (80')
St. Pauli cemented top spot after a blistering eight-minute spell in which they scored three times to come from behind and beat Rostock. The hosts took an early lead through Júnior Brumado, but Pauli responded almost straight away with a trio of quickfire efforts from Manolis Saliakas, Marcel Hartel and Oladapo Afolayan to turn the game on its head. The away side were the better side from that point on and although Brumado grabbed his second of the game to reduce the deficit late on, Pauli held firm to deservedly take the points.
Elversberg 4-1 Paderborn
Goals: 0-1 Klaas (22'), 1-1 Schnellbacher (41'), 2-1 Schnellbacher (50'), 3-1 Stock (57'), 4-1 Neubauer (60')
Elversberg likewise came from behind against Paderborn to continue their superb start to the season, and also did so with a flurry of goals in a short space of time. The visitors took the lead midway through the first-half against last season's third-division champions, but Luca Schnellbacher restored parity shortly before the interval. The midfielder doubled his tally early in the second period to kickstart the turnaround, with further efforts in the ensuing 10 minutes from Paul Stock and Maurice Neubauer giving Elversberg their seventh win of the campaign, keeping them in the chase for a second successive promotion.
Osnabrück 0-2 Magdeburg
Goals: 0-1 Atik (52'), 0-2 Schuler (71')
Promoted Osnabrück remain rooted to the foot of the Bundesliga 2 table after suffering their ninth defeat of the season, spoiling interim head coach Martin Heck's first game at the helm since taking over from Tobias Schweinsteiger. The visitors, who had lost four on the bounce prior to kick-off, were the better side in the first half but were unable to find the net despite creating several chances. That all changed after the restart when Baris Atik clinically finished off a counter-attack to put Magdeburg ahead. Any hopes the home side might have had of snatching a point were quashed in the 71st minute when Luca Schuler guided in Atik's cross to seal a much-needed win.
Fortuna Düsseldorf 5-3 Schalke
Goals: 1-0 Vermej 12' (assist: Gavory), 2-0 Klaus 19' (assist: Tzolis), 3-0 Vermej 26', 3-1 Kamiński 57' (assist: Lasme), 4-1 Tzolis 65' (assist: Ísak), 4-2 Kalas 73' (assist: Mohr), 4-3 Lasme 75' (assist: Idrizi), 5-3 Niemiec 90+4' (assist: Jastrzembski)
Fortuna Düsseldorf and Schalke played out a veritable goal-fest at the Merkur Spiel-Arena, and not for the first time in recent weeks, the Royal Blues came off second best. A Vincent Vermeij brace either side of Felix Klaus strike saw the hosts race into a 3-0 lead inside the first half-hour. Schalke battled back to 4-3 with Bryan Lasme enjoying a goal and an assist in the second half, but Fortuna put the game beyond doubt in injury time when Jona Niemiec slotted home, having replaced Christos Tzolis - scorer of the hosts' fourth goal - just minutes earlier.
Karlsruhe 4-1 Nuremberg
Goals: 1-0 Nebel 1' (assist: Wanitzek), 1-1 Uzun 60', 2-1 Schleusener 70' (assist: Nebel), 3-1 Zivzivadze 89' (assist: Heise), 4-1 Zivzivadze 90'+4 (assist: Stindl)
Karlsruher put three points between themselves and Schalke, who occupy the relegation play-off place, with a late 4-1 victory over Nuremberg, who began the day eight points better off than their hosts. The scored were even for more than an hour, with Can Uzun cancelling out Paul Nebel's first minute opener, but Karlsruher scored three times in the final 20 minutes - and twice in the final few - with Budu Zivzivadze bagging a brace at the death, to secure their first win in four games.
Kaiserslautern 0-3 Holstein Kiel
Goals: 0-1 Pichler 16', 0-2 Arp 44' (assist: Sander), 0-3 Pichler 58' (assist: Rothe)
Holstein Kiel kept the pressure on St. Pauli and Hamburg at the top of the table with a convincing 3-0 win at Kaiserslautern. Benedickt Pichler scored twice to take his season haul to a team-high seven goals, either side of a strike from former Hamburg and Bayern Munich youngster Fiete Arp. Kiel are just a point off HSV in the promotion play-off spot.
Greuther Fürth 2-0 Wehen Wiesbaden
Goals: 1-0 Sieb 20' (assist: Wagner), 2-0 Hrgota 84' (assist: Green)
Greuther Fürth kept up their fine recent run of form with a 2-0 win over promoted Wehen Wiesbaden. Former Bayern youngster Armindo Sieb got Alexander Zorniger's side on their way when he converted Robert Wagner's assist early on, before Branimir Hrgota and Julian Green - both part of the Fürth side who were in the Bundesliga two seasons ago - combined to add gloss to the scoreline six minutes from time.
