Benjamin Šeško's Slovenia held by Serbia in Euro 2024 Group C
Former Eintracht Frankfurt striker Luka Jović scored a late equaliser to deny Benjamin Šeško's Slovenia all three points in UEFA Euro 2024 Group C.
Slovenia 1-1 Serbia
Goals: 1-0 Karničnik 69' (assist: Elšnik), 1-1 Jović 90'+5
Predrag Rajković was kept busy in the early exchanges in Munich, the Serbia goalkeeper saving from Adam Čerin and Jan Mlakar. Dušan Vlahović made Jan Oblak work as Serbia began to threaten, before Aleksandar Mitrović put a presentable header wide. Timi Elšnik went closer still with a rasping shot that came back off the upright, with RB Leipzig striker Šeško leaning back and unable to keep his follow-up attempt down. Mitrović and Šeško exchanged further efforts on goal in the second half, before Slovenia got the breakthrough through Žan Karničnik. However, Serbia refused to give in as ex-Eintracht man Jović headed in a late corner to level and leave both nations in with a chance of reaching the knockouts.
