VfB Stuttgart confirm Leo Sauer signing from Feyenoord
Slovakian international winger Leo Sauer has joined VfB Stuttgart from Dutch giants Feyenoord on a contract until June 2031.
The 20-year-old winger initially joined the Eredivisie side on loan from Slovakian outfit MŠK Žilina in 2022 before signing a professional contract with the club in April 2023.
After an impressive breakout campaign on loan at fellow Dutch side NAC Breda in 2024/25, the winger returned to his parent club last term and went on to make 29 appearances in all competitions, netting four goals.
"Leo has repeatedly demonstrated his qualities in the Dutch Eredivisie, the UEFA Europa League and while playing for the Slovakia national team," said Fabian Wohlgemuth, Stuttgart's board member for sport. "He is a player with great potential, and not just because of his age."
Sauer added: "It feels great to be part of such a prestigious club. VfB have a huge profile, a rich tradition and a massive fanbase. I can't wait to meet all my team-mates and play for my new club for the first time."
Bratislava-born Sauer also boasts international experience, having made 11 senior appearances for Slovakia since making his debut in a 1-1 friendly draw with Norway back in March 2024.
He faced new team-mates Angelo Stiller and Jamie Leweling in last year's FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifiers against Germany. Slovakia won the home fixture 2-0 before losing 6-0 in Leipzig, with Sauer starting both fixtures.
Stuttgart begin the 2026/27 season away to third-tier Hansa Rostock in the DFB Cup first round on 21 August, before kicking off their Bundesliga campaign at champions Bayern Munich a week later.
