Thomas Müller reaches 700 appearance milestone for Bayern Munich
There's just no stopping Germany and Bayern Munich legend Thomas Müller, who this weekend made it 700 senior appearances for Bayern Munich in their Matchday 28 game away to Heidenheim.
From joining the Bavarian giants as a 10-year-old to making his senior bow under Jürgen Klinsmann against Hamburg in 2008, the road towards becoming Bayern's all-time top appearance holder has been paved with glory for the player nicknamed the Raumdeuter, or space invader. And now, after reaching the 700 games mark for his lifelong team, Müller is just nine games behind Bayern's all-time record holder Sepp Maier.
Depending on how Bayern fare in Europe this season, the attacker could surpass the club's former goalkeeper to become the Bavarian giants' all-time leading appearance holder before the end of the current campaign. Yet Müller will be more than content with celebrating match number 700 for now. Having signed a one-year contract extension last December that will extend his association with Bayern to 25 years, there will time enough for Müller to think about Maier's magnificent mark.

The Weilheim in Oberbayern-born player has won 32 trophies with Bayern, including a record 12 Bundesliga titles. He also owns the record for most wins at his club. Bayern president Herbert Hainer once said of Müller, "His career is littered with records in the history books. Bayern has been shaped by many people, and there will never again be a player like Thomas Müller."
