New Augsburg arrival Ricardo Pepi made his Bundesliga bow in Matchday 18's defeat to Hoffenheim and the 18-year-old was delighted to get his first top-flight minutes under his belt.

Just a day before his 19th birthday, Pepi came on as a 60th-minute substitute in Augsburg's 3-1 loss at Hoffenheim.

The American teenager may not have managed to mark his debut with a goal - as he did in his first senior outing for the USA - but he was pleased to have featured for the first time since making the move from FC Dallas less than a week ago.

"I felt it was great," Pepi told bundesliga.com. "It's tough because we lost the game but we're trying to work and we're trying to get ready for the next game and move on."

Next up for the Texan and his Augsburg side is the visit of Eintracht Frankfurt to the WWK Arena on Matchday 19 and Pepi is already looking to that meeting with Die Adler as an opportunity to help steer the club away from a relegation battle.

"We had a couple of chances to take at least one point here, but the opponents were really good too," he told the club's official website. "The 30 minutes of playing time did me good, it gave me a feeling for the team and also for the league.

"The team and everyone in the club made it easy for me to arrive. We will now continue to work for the next few weeks and be ready for the next games."
