Victor Boniface explains unusual goal celebration for Bayer Leverkusen
Victor Boniface netted a brace for Bayer Leverkusen in their 4-1 victory at Hoffenheim, but it was his celebration after his opening strike that got everyone talking. The striker has since explained the reason behind it...
Leverkusen were in top form against Hoffenheim and were 2-0 up after 30 minutes thanks to Martin Terrier's first goal for the club, which was assisted by Boniface, who then got on the scoresheet himself with a clinical finish.
To celebrate, the Nigeria international pulled his shorts down - a rather unusual reaction, to say the least! Boniface, though, cleared up the incident after the full-time whistle.

"I didn't want to provoke anyone," he explained. "I did it in front of our fans. It’s a TikTok trend by a big influencer in Nigeria. I promised him that I would cheer so much, I just hadn't scored yet."
Well, that's that then! It remains to be seen what the 23-year-old has in store when he next finds the back of the net...
