Werder Bremen midfielder Jens Stage ruled out until 2027 with thigh injury
Werder Bremen are set to be without Jens Stage for several months after the midfielder suffered a thigh muscle injury in training on Saturday.
Subsequent scans on Sunday morning revealed the extent of the damage, with Stage not expected to return to first-team action until 2027.
“I’m incredibly sorry for Jens and we’ll do all we can to give him as smooth a recovery as possible and get him fit again as soon as we can,” said head coach Daniel Thioune. “However, because of the severity of the injury, we don’t expect Jens to return before the end of the year.

“It’s a big blow for the team, because Jens is obviously a crucial member of our squad on and off the pitch.”
Stage scored 10 goals in only 29 Bundesliga appearances last season as Werder avoided relegation to Germany’s second division.
Overall, the 29-year-old has registered 27 goals and 12 assists in 126 outings for the northern club.
