Xavi Simons back at RB Leipzig: "Now is the time to deliver!"
Xavi Simons has spoken about his ambitions for 2024/25 in a press conference after extending his loan at RB Leipzig from Paris Saint-Germain following a sparkling debut Bundesliga season.
Fresh after confirming he will remain at Leipzig for the 2024/25 campaign, Xavi said: "I'm delighted to be here again. I love winning. I love going out and giving everything on the pitch. The club knows that and has the same DNA. It's the ideal place here to develop further and make the next step."
The Dutch playmaker scored eight goals and provided 11 assists during the 2023/24 season - winning the Bundesliga Goal of the Month honour twice as his side finished the season in fourth.

He added: "I wanted to make the best decision for my career, and that's what I've done. I can take the next step here. Before the last match of last season I felt really uneasy as I thought we could have achieved a lot more.
"We played well and gave our all, but I had the sense I'm not finished here, and we are not finished as a club. It was important for me that the team remains together. Now is the time to deliver."
Leipzig sporting director Rouven Schröder says Leipzig did everything as a club to extend the loan for another season: "I have rarely in my career seen a player who has integrated so much on loan. Xavi was here with his heart and soul from the start. We are really happy that he is with us again."
Referring to the number 10 shirt that Xavi will wear in 2024/25, Schröder added: "Now he has the right shirt number too, as the beating heart of our play."
