Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen both picked up important victories on Matchday 16, while Leipzig's Xavi and Jonathan Burkardt of Mainz weighed in with respective doubles on the first weekend of action for 2025. Catch all the highlights from another remarkable weekend in the Bundesliga.

Borussia Mönchengladbach 0-1 Bayern Munich

The league leaders began 2025 where they left off in 2024, with a victory. They had Harry Kane to thank for their latest triumph, the top scorer netting from the penalty spot. 

Borussia Dortmund 2-3 Bayer Leverkusen

The Bundesliga stormed back with a Friday-night cracker at Signal Iduna Park, where Xabi Alonso's Werkself kept in touch with the league leaders thanks to a sixth straight victory.  

St. Pauli 0-1 Eintracht Frankfurt

That man Omar Marmoush was on target again for Eintracht - against his former club - the Egyptian weighing in with his 14th Bundesliga goal of the campaign to keep the Eagles in the top three. 

RB Leipzig 4-2 Werder Bremen

Xavi returned from injury with a neat double to help fire Leipzig to an impressive win at the Red Bull Arena. 

Augsburg 0-1 VfB Stuttgart

Germany international forward Deniz Undav was back in the fold and scored from the bench as Stuttgart left the WWK Arena with all three points.

Mainz 2-0 Bochum

There's just no stopping Mainz, or their striker Jonathan Burkardt, who netted a double to keep the 05ers dreaming of European football next term. 

Hoffenheim 0-1 Wolfsburg

It was goal involvement number 12 from Mohamed Amoura that helped the Wolves return to winning ways against troubled Hoffenheim. 

Freiburg 3-2 Holstein Kiel

The hosts were left hanging on after an incredible Kiel fightback saw the basement side net twice in the closing stages to put Freiburg's eventual win in doubt.  

Heidenheim 2-0 Union Berlin

The Voith-Arena was bathed in celebration after something of a winning drought, with Frank Schmidt thankful for new arrival Frans Krätzig against the 10 men of Union.
