Two Nuremberg changes
FCN coach Miroslav Klose makes two changes to his starting lineup compared to the last match (a 2-1 defeat against 1899 Hoffenheim in the DFB-Cup): Reichert and Soares start in place of Mathenia and Yilmaz (both on the bench).
Five changes
HSV manager Steffen Baumgart makes five changes to his starting lineup compared to the last match (a 2-1 defeat in the DFB-Cup at Freiburg): Fernandes, Heyer, Katterbach, Perrin and Dompé come in for Raab, Balde, Mikelbrencis (all on the bench), Schonlau and Meffert (both suspended).
Nuremberg starting XI
Reichert, Jeltsch, Knoche, Karafiát - Villadsen, Jander, Castrop, Soares - Justvan - Emreli, Tzimas
Hamburg starting XI
Heuer Fernandes - Katterbach, Perrin, Heyer, Muheim - Karabec, Reis, Elfadli, Poręba, Dompé - Selke
Klose's view on Hamburg
"Both teams played in the cup on Wednesday. Let's see if there will be a spectacle on Sunday. When you look at the players on both sides, it could turn out to be one."
Baumgart's view on Nuremberg
"We need to put the past tasks behind us and focus on a top team on Sunday, and that's clearly our goal. The challenge will be to be on point, as we're facing an opponent in good form."
The coach knows how it's done
Nuremberg boss Miroslav Klose only scored more goals in his professional career against Hertha (11) than against HSV (10 in 21 competitive matches).
Little joy at the Volksparkstadion
Nuremberg have never won at the Volksparkstadion in Bundesliga 2. Their last away victory over HSV was on 25 August 2012 in the Bundesliga (1-0).
Favourite opponent in the second tier
HSV have more wins over Nuremberg in Bundesliga 2 than they do against any other club (seven, including the last four by an aggregate score of 11-1) and have managed to score in all 10 encounters at this level.
Clear-cut case?
HSV have lost only one of their last 15 competitive matches against Nuremberg (2-1 away in March 2022), in addition to 10 wins and four draws during this period in the Bundesliga, Bundesliga 2 and DFB Cup.
