Full-time: Jahn Regensburg 0-1 Cologne

Cologne manage to hold on to their narrow lead and secure a scrappy 1-0 victory in Regensburg! On balance, it's a deserved win, as they were clearly the better side for at least 60 minutes. Only in the last half-hour did Regensburg have more possession, but they failed to really create any danger. Three crucial points for Cologne in the race for promotion!

Gerhard Struber on Jahn Regensburg

"We want to win and we know what we need to do to achieve that. It's about finding the right mentality to master the task. Jahn Regensburg are on the ropes. Nevertheless, we know from experience how dangerous such opponents can be. We need to do everything to take any glimmer of hope away from them. We are responsible for our performance on the pitch and we're all mature enough to know that it's up to us whether we deliver or not."

Andreas Patz on Cologne

"We will play host to one of the best teams in front of what will certainly be another fantastic crowd. Cologne are quick to transition and put a lot of pressure on their opponents. The anticipation is enormous. We want to do everything in our power to try and win this home match."

Cologne's joy, Regensburg's sorrow

Cologne beat Hertha BSC 2-1 in extra time in their DFB Cup round of 16 clash, Dejan Ljubicic hitting a dramatic winner in the 120th minute. It was a different story for Jahn, who lost 3-0 at home to Stuttgart.

Cologne native at Jahn

Cologne goalkeeper Jonas Urbig was on loan at Jahn in the first half of 2023, playing his first 17 Bundesliga 2 matches for a Regensburg side that was relegated in 2023.

Special cup atmosphere

In the most recent cup encounters, the score was 2-2 after 120 minutes, with Jahn winning 4-3 on penalties on both occasions. Cologne were in the Bundesliga on both occasions, while Regensburg were in the Bundesliga 2.

A closer look at the record

Regensburg have won the last three encounters with Cologne. In May 2019 there was a 5-3 away victory in the Bundesliga 2, and in the DFB cup, Jahn won on penalties in February 2021 (at home in the round of 16) and July 2022 (first round, also at home).
