Full-time: Braunschweig 0-3 Elversberg
The third goal was the last action in the game! In the end, Braunschweig did not capitalise on a good first half. After the break, the home side weren't as spirited and SVE ruthlessly took advantage of their chances. In the end, the result might be one goal too high, but it is still deserved.

Game put beyond any doubt!
Stock takes a low free-kick and lays it off to Neubauer. He's not pressured by any Braunschweig player, can set himself up, and then strikes it sweetly with his left foot. The ball wobbles in the air but is quite central and therefore not unsaveable. Johansson gets a touch, but the ball still goes into the net.

Asllani at the double!
This time Damar's assist is intentional. He lays the ball off to Asllani on the left side of the penalty area. Asllani, is lurking in the six-yard box as he was for the first goal, and this time rounds Johansson before slotting home with his left foot from a tight angle.
77'
Another error in the build-up
Eintracht can't keep doing this if they want to get back into it. But Elversberg are now sitting deeper in their own half and allowing the home side to come at them.

First substitution
The recently in-form Damar comes on for Schnellbacher. Can he make something happen here?
55'
Forced wide
Philippe crosses the ball from the left touchline towards Gómez at the near post, who opts to control it instead of shooting first time. This makes the angle too tight and he only manages to hit one straight at Kristof.
52'
More of the same
The second half has begun much like the first half ended. Neither team is really managing to fashion chances in front of the opponent's goal.
50'
Shaky by Johansson
Asllani isn't under pressure on the edge of the penalty area and takes a shot. His right-footed effort lacks power, but still causes problems for Johansson, who fails to hold onto the ball. In the end, a defender manages to clear it to the side.
47'
Halting the build-up

Half-time: Braunschweig 0-0 Elversberg
After a quiet start to the game, the match picked up pace after about 15 minutes. Philippe had several chances to put Eintracht in the lead, but the visitors also had a few, albeit somewhat less dangerous, attempts on goal. In the final minutes, there were many minor fouls, which disrupted the flow of the game. Given the high tempo at times, the second half remains full of promise!

40'
Misunderstanding
The hosts shift the play to the left again, Philippe wants to pass to the centre after a short dribble but can only find an opponent.
38'
Space for the Lions
As often happens, the ball is played out wide in midfield, this time to the left side. In the end, Gómez runs into a dead end in the penalty area.
34'
Back to basics
After a dramatic few minutes, the game is calming down again. The ball is constantly changing possession, with the two defensive lines remaining alert and standing compact.
31'
Deflected
After a corner from the right, Baum takes a shot from about 20 metres out, but his effort is deflected by Bičakčić for another corner. Nothing comes from that.

Philippe goes close to opener!
Gómez is brought down in the centre circle, but Eintracht still want to exploit the numerical advantage - Kaufmann sends Philippe through, who cuts in from the left into the penalty area and finds himself free in front of Kristof. His left-footed shot curls just wide of the left post. That was nearly a goal!
20'
Pinckert in again
A free-kick from the visitors from the left-hand side falls onto Pinckert's head, but he doesn't get enough power behind the ball, and Johansson collects it comfortably.
18'
That was close!

Visitors in control

More on that Elversberg team
There's one change for Elversberg, with Luca Schnellbacher starting for the first time in six weeks (a 1-0 defeat in Regensburg on 2 November) in place of Muhammed Damar, who has played well recently and is named on the bench for the first time in the league this season.
More on that Braunschweig team
Only five of the ten outfield players that started the 5-0 defeat in Düsseldorf remain in the starting lineup. Ivanov, Nikolaou, Ba and Di Michele Sanchez are playing instead of Jaeckel, Ehlers, Bell Bell and Köhler (all on the bench).
Elversberg starting XI
Kristof - Baum, Pinckert, Rohr, Neubauer - Sickinger, Schmahl, Petkov, Zimmerschied, Schnellbacher - Asllani
Braunschweig starting XI
Johansson - Ivanov, Bičakčić, Nikolaou - Ba, Krauße, Kaufmann, Sanchez, Marie, Philippe - Gomez
Daniel Scherning on facing Elversberg
"They are still somewhat under the radar, but they are already being perceived differently in this league compared to last season. We are facing a team that is very strong in terms of passing and movement. They have a versatile attack and many players who want to play freely and take risks. We need to hurt the opponent in certain moments and show them that we are the side playing at home."
Horst Steffen on facing Braunschweig
"The lads were focused and committed during the week in preparation for Braunschweig. I'm surprised that Braunschweig are relatively low in the table. They've put in some decent performances, but they've also had results that didn't match those performances."
The final straw
On 20 October 2023, Paul Stock scored his first goal in the 2. Bundesliga against Braunschweig - afterwards, the visitors' manager Jens Härtel had to leave, and shortly after, Daniel Scherning took over.
Record defeat
Elversberg have never lost by more than a five-goal margin away from home in the Bundesliga 2, with their only 5-0 defeat on the road having come in Braunschweig on 30 March 2024.
A home win each
Both clubs met for the first time in competitive matches last season, with each side winning comfortably at home (3-0 to Elversberg and 5-0 to Braunschweig).
