Eighty years ago, on 27 January 1945, the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration and extermination camp was liberated. German football has been commemorating this event on matchdays around 27 January for more than 20 years, remembering the people persecuted, deported and murdered by the Nazis.

Hoffmann is back
Ron-Thorben Hoffmann wasn't allowed to play against his former club Schalke last week, but today he makes his comeback for the Lions. In the first half of the season, Hoffmann only made two appearances for Schalke, but last term the 25-year-old was one of the key players in
helping Braunschweig stay up. Marko Johansson, who played in goal last week despite an injury, is absent and requires surgery.

Daniel Scherning makes two changes to his starting line-up compared to the 0-0 draw against Schalke: Kevin Ehlers and Paul Jaeckel are starting today in place of Jannis Nikolaou (suspended due to red card) and Robert Ivanov (5th yellow card) - both last featured in the starting 11 on Matchday 15 during the 5-0 defeat in Düsseldorf.

Minute's silence planned
