Suspension for Muheim
The Hamburg player commits a tactical foul against Zeefuik, who was running past him, at the right corner of the penalty area. He receives his fifth yellow card of the season for this and will miss next week's match against Hannover 96.

Like handball
All Hamburg players are in their own penalty area, but Hertha can't break through.

Heuer Fernandes!
Sessa secures a cross in the six-yard box, deceives opponent Hadžikadunić and gets a shot off from close range. But Hamburg's keeper is there, throwing himself at the shot and preventing another equaliser.

Hertha have six minutes left
There's a substantial amount of added time. Can Hertha make use of it one more time?
80'
The equaliser!
Mr Fiél can celebrate his substitutions. Maza plays the ball out to Reese on the left wing, whose cross to the far post reaches Winkler with pinpoint accuracy. He takes the ball first-time with his left foot and smashes it into the back of the Hamburg net for a now-deserved 2-2.
77'
How did he save that???
The substitute Winkler is set up by Scherhant in a central position in front of the Hamburg penalty area and aims for the bottom left corner. However, Heuer Fernandes dives down lightning-fast and scrapes the ball off the line. Incredible!
72'
There's the consolation goal!
Reese outpaces Hadžikadunić on the left flank and crosses the ball at full sprint into the penalty area to Scherhant, who lays it off for Cuisance with his back to goal. He slots it home from 11 metres into the bottom left corner. Immediately, the atmosphere in the stadium is buzzing again!
70'
Can Hertha still turn it around?
With the final 20 approaching, and the Berlin side trailing by two goals. Reese, Prevljak and Winkler have joined the action as fresh legs. Can the men from the capital stage a comeback with their help?
67'
Zeefuik's blunder not capitalised on
The Berlin defender loses the ball, allowing Karabec to go one-on-one with Gerbeck, but comes off second best. The Berlin keeper makes himself big and blocks the shot with his upper body.
64'
Hertha tries everything
Cuisance finds Maza in the space behind, whose shot is deflected by Elfadli. In the battle for the rebound, Mikelbrencis and Niederlechner scramble for the ball, but the striker can't put it in the net. Heuer Fernandes manages to save on the goal line. However, it also looked like Niederlechner was offside.
61'
The super sub strikes!
A brilliant goal makes it 2-0 for Hamburg, and the scorer is the recently substituted Königsdörffer. He initially plays the ball out to Dompé on the left, then makes a beeline for the opposition penalty area and receives it back. What he does next is pure class: from the left corner of the box, Königsdörffer curls the ball into the top right corner of the Hertha goal.
59'
Classic case of getting carried away
After Maza dribbled past three opponents, Scherhant tries to emulate him. However, the Berlin offensive player gets stuck at the first human obstacle in the opposition penalty area, squandering a good opportunity.
56'
Hertha once again
After a Berlin corner, there's a bit of confusion in the Hamburg penalty area. Palkó Dárdai's shot is immediately blocked, after which the Hanseatic side manage to clear their lines.
53'
Selke down
The scorer of the 1-0 has collided with Leistner in an aerial duel and requires treatment. Königsdörffer is already warming up on the touchline.
51'
Offside
Zeefuik sends Niederlechner through with a long pass, but the Hertha striker is half a foot too close to the opposition goal and therefore doesn't need to continue his run.
49'
Offensive foul
Karabec wriggles through on the right side and crosses the ball in front of Hertha's goal. No one gets to the ball there, but Selke brings Leistner down in the challenge and the action is whistled for a foul.
46'
Second half underway
Both teams have returned from the dressing room unchanged. Let's see if this also applies to the action on the pitch.

Half-time in Berlin
Hertha go into the dressing room with a 0-1 deficit and can rightly be frustrated with this scoreline. Particularly in the early stages, the Berliners were the better side and should have taken the lead through Palkó Dárdai. Instead, Selke scored out of nowhere at the other end, after which HSV put in a disciplined performance.

A bit of danger once again
Cuisance slips the ball through to Palkó Dárdai in the Hamburg penalty area, but Hadžikadunić and Heuer Fernandes clear with combined efforts.

Hertha slightly quicker, but trailing
The Berlin side are winning the ball back faster overall than the visitors, but the scoreboard shows 0-1.

Hamburg in full control
HSV is keeping the opponent far away from their own penalty area and maintaining possession for longer periods. It doesn't look like anything will happen before the break. But who knows...
35'
Bit of a lull
Meanwhile, not much is happening on the pitch, with the teams somewhat neutralising each other in midfield.
34'
HSV and the first half hour
Having survived the opening phase with luck, now ahead - and now a goal difference of 18-0 (!) in the first 30 minutes of play. Hamburg are once again a phenomenon this season.

Out of nowhere! Selke of all people!
The former Hertha player scores against his ex-club to make it 1-0, which he has now done six times in total. This turns the game on its head. But now to the goal: Karabec chips the ball from the left side towards the six-yard box, where Selke rises higher than Karbownik and nods it in.

The Hanseatic side slow down the game
The visitors are now trying to calm the match a bit and are allowing the ball to be passed around their defence during their first extended spell of possession.

Hamburg's clean sheet streak is under threat
HSV has gone four hours without conceding a goal, but Hertha's early offensive is strongly challenging this streak.
11'
Another Yellow Card
A rough challenge by the Hamburg player, who tackles Karbownik hard near the touchline and receives a booking for it.
9'
Blocked!
Maza lays it off for Cuisance in front of the Hamburg penalty area, whose shot attempt ends in the legs of a Hamburg player. There was more potential in that as well.
7'
That should have been it!
Hertha misse the opportunityto 1-0 here, and it really should have been! Maza breaks through on the left side in the opponent's penalty area and then lays it off low across the middle to the onrushing Palkó Dárdai, who really only needed to tap it in from five metres out, but puts the ball wide of the right post.
5'
This time wide to the right
Another free kick for Hertha, which Palkó Dárdai attempts to send directly towards goal from 25 metres out. However, it remains completely harmless.
4'
First goal attempt
The subsequent free-kick cross from Cuisance finds the head of Palkó Dárdai, but his header goes wide of the left post of HSV's goal.
3'
That was quick
The first yellow card of the match is shown after just three minutes. Sahiti slides in on Scherhant on the left side and can't complain about the consequence.

The match is underway!
The Berlin side, playing in blue and white, have kicked off. Hamburg are wearing red shirts with black shorts.

Never again is always! 21st 'Remembrance Day in German Football'
80 years ago, on 27 January 1945, the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration and extermination camp was liberated. German football has been commemorating this event for more than 20 years, remembering the people persecuted, deported and murdered by the Nazis on match days around 27 January.
Remembrance of Kay Bernstein
At Hertha BSC, Matchday 19 will primarily be marked by the remembrance of president Kay Bernstein, who passed away unexpectedly a year ago.
Two changes for HSV
Like Hertha, Hamburg also make two changes from their last game. Bakery Jatta is out injured, and is replaced by Emir Sahiti. Additionally, former Hertha player Marco Richter comes into the team for the absent Immanuel Pherai.
Kenny missing for the Berliners
Jonjoe Kenny, who is keen on a transfer, is not in the squad, having not missed a single minute in the league this season. Michal Karbownik takes his place in the team, starting for the first time since matchday 11. The Pole could also play on the left, which would see Deyovaisio Zeefuik switch to the right.
Gerbeck remains in goal
Regular starting keeper Tjark Ernst is back in the squad, but can only make the bench - Marius Gersbeck therefore continues in goal. This marks his first match at the Olympic Stadium since March 2024.
HSV starting XI
Heuer Fernandes - Mikelbrencis, Hadžikadunić, Elfadli, Muheim - Meffert - Karabec, Richter - Sahiti, Selke, Dompé
Hertha starting XI
Gersbeck - Karbownik, Leistner, M. Dárdai, Zeefuik - Cuisance, Klemens - P. Dárdai, Maza, Scherhant - Niederlechner
Merlin Polzin on Hertha
"Our goal on Saturday and our own expectation is, of course, a victory in Berlin. It doesn't matter to us who we're playing against. For HSV and for our journey, it's important that we bring our style of football, which we want to represent us, onto the pitch and get the maximum three points out of it. We're extremely excited for the match and look forward to numerous HSV fans who will create a huge noise in the away section."
Christian Fiél on Hamburg
"HSV are very confident. Under Merlin Polzin, they are very flexible and haven't lost a match yet. You'll need to be very careful when defending against them. The stadium will be full - we're now in the new year, starting from 'zero' - and we want to do things differently than in the first half of the season."
Selke in focus
Davie Selke played 114 Bundesliga matches for Hertha BSC, scoring 19 goals. In the last five matches against his former club, the striker has found the back of the net five times.
A first for everything
In the Bundesliga, Hertha have celebrated more victories against no other team than they have against HSV (30 in 70 encounters), but in the Bundesliga 2, the Berliners have never won against the Red Shorts (one draw, two wins for HSV).
