Full time: Preußen Münster 1-2 Hamburg
Despite HSV's early dominance, the home side took a surprise lead through Frenkert. Hamburg remained unfazed and pushed for the equaliser. Just before half-time, Selke converted a perfect cross from Hefti with a header to make it 1-1. He struck in stoppage time of the second half too, converting from the penalty spot to snatch all three points.

Penalty decision overturned
Richter threads a pass to Dompé, who plays Karabec through. The latter is stopped with a strong physical challenge by ter Horst and goes down. After brief consideration, referee Haslberger points to the spot, but then reviews the incident and overturns the decision. Ter Horst's use of his body to block was just within the bounds of what's allowed.

Half-time: Münster 1-1 HSV
Selke's goal ensures HSV go in at the break deservedly on level terms. They fell behind against the run of play, having otherwise controlled the play in the first half for long periods. Münster have posed a threat, though, and even had a second goal ruled out for offside. All to play for at Hammer Straße!

However, he's clearly offside and the goal is disallowed.

Early birthday present
Jean-Luc Dompe is on the bench today, while youngster Otto Stange gets his first start for the senior team (previously five substitute appearances), two days before his 18th birthday.
Swiss wing duo
Muheim returns after serving a one-match suspension, while his compatriot Hefti remains in the team and moves to the right. Mikelbrencis makes way.
Selke plays
HSV's top scorer Selke has only missed one match after his cheekbone injury and returns to the starting line-up today, replacing Königsdörffer.

Familiar Face
David Kinsombi was under contract with HSV from 2019 to 2022, playing more matches (78) and scoring more goals (11) for them than for any other club in Bundesliga 2. He has scored three times in six second-tier matches against his former club.
Last competitive victory
Münster's only competitive victory against HSV was a 3-1 home win in May 1951 in the group stage of the championship finals. Adi Preißler scored to make it 1-0 for the Eagles.
Memories of Uwe Seeler
The draw on the first Bundesliga matchday in history was also Münster's last positive result success against HSV. Since then, there have been three clear HSV victories in three competitive matches: 4-1 earlier this season, 4-0 in the DFB Cup in 1974 in Münster (including a brace by Willi Reimann) and 5-0 in the second Bundesliga game of 1963/64 (hat-trick by Uwe Seeler).
Historic
Münster and HSV are playing in the same league for the first time in 61 years. The last time that happened was in the 1963/64 season, the inaugural Bundesliga season, when they met on the first matchday at the Preußenstadion, drawing 1-1 with goals from Falk Dörr and Gert 'Charly' Dörfel.
