Both teams aren't taking many risks at the moment. Could we have one last twist?
84'
Good idea
Sessa chips the ball into the path of Prevljak, who doesn't quite manage to reach it.
81'
Defensive woes continue
The 2-2 was Schalke's 19th goal conceded this season - no team has conceded more in this Bundesliga 2 campaign. Their 11 home goals conceded are even the highest in the league.
78'
New equation
Schalke are becoming more active after conceding, while Hertha have reduced their risk-taking. There have been no chances since the equaliser.
75'
Hertha get logical leveller
The equaliser was the visitors' ninth shot on goal in the second half, while Schalke are yet to have an attempt after the break.
72'
Ice-cold Prevljak levels!
Having just come onto the pitch, the striker takes responsibility from the spot. He delays his run-up, sends Heekeren to the left and slots it in on the right.
71'
Klemens goes down
Schallenberg slides in recklessly against Klemens - and a penalty is awarded. There was definite contact there.

Signs of life from the Old Lady

Spirited Schalke
The hosts are regaining possession much quicker after losing the ball - they certainly deserve their lead.

Nearly 3-1!
Bulut switches the ball superbly into the path Murkin, who brings the ball down with a technically demanding touch at full speed and then chips it over Ernst - but it goes just narrowly wide of the left post.

Another stunning strike sends Schalke in front!
After a short corner, Murkin races past Maza on the left and whips in a sharp cross to the centre. The ball slips through to Mohr on the right, who controls it well and hammers it into the net with an absolute thunderbolt of a half-volley.
31'
Ouch!
Mohr delivers a cross from the right flank into the centre. Karaman and Dardai both go for the ball and clash heads. After some brief treatment, it seems both players can continue.

Entertainment guaranteed
In Schalke's matches this season, a total of 33 goals have been scored at both ends (now 15-18 from Schalke's perspective)! There's always something happening in a Schalke match!
24'
Schalke level in sensational style!
Mohr lays it off from the left side to the centre for Karaman, who, after a quick one-two with Younes, curls the ball into the top right corner from about 20 metres out. It doesn't get any better than that!

Nearly 2-0!
Scherhant goes down in the penalty area after a fair challenge. Thorsteinsson follows up and lays it off to Cuisance. He could shoot from eight metres out, but instead passes to Maza, who immediately fires. Heekeren is there to save this time.

It it works, don't fix it
Once again, Kenny finds Cuisance on the right wing and he has plenty of space. However, he hits a cross that ends up going out of play on the other side of the field.

Early bird bonus for Berlin
Cuisance has just scored Hertha's quickest goal this season in the second flight. Previously, the earliest the Berlin side had scored was after 28 minutes. He is also now Hertha's top scorer this season with three goals.
12'
Karaman gets in the way
Schallenberg pushes forward and tries a shot from distance. It could have been a decent effort, had it not hit Karaman's broad chest - it's an unfortunate situation for Schalke.
9'
Cuisance catches Heekeren by surprise!
Kenny sends Cuisance on a run down the right flank with a strong pass. Cuisance beats Murkin in the penalty area and fires a powerful shot towards the near post from the right. The ball came straight at Heekeren, and the Schalke keeper lets it slip through.
6'
Artful attack
Mohr sends Antwi-Adjei through with a strong pass down the right flank, and he serves Sylla in the centre, whose shot Ernst manages to deflect around the post.
2'
Quick yellow card
Dardai brings down Karaman and is immediately cautioned. That came after Maza had already unintentionally caught Schallenberg on the ankle, and the Schalke defender requires treatment.
1'
False start!
Hertha are a bit overeager, leading to the kick-off being repeated as too many players were already in the opposition half. Their second attempt gets us underway though.
キックオフ
First for Schalke
For the first time this season, Schalke made only one change to their starting eleven from match to match. There had always been more prior to tonight.
Only one change for Schalke
Compared to the victory in Münster, there is one change in Schalke's starting lineup: Christopher Antwi-Adjei replaces Mehmet Can Aydin, meaning S04 are taking a slightly more offensive approach this evening.
Klemens gets to start
The 19-year-old Pascal Klemens is in Hertha's starting eleven for the first time this second division season after five previous substitute appearances. Starting from the beginning is not new for him, though, as he was in the starting lineup 20 times in the 2023/23 season.
Will Sessa score again?
Kevin Sessa, who joined from Heidenheim in the summer, is in Hertha's starting line-up for the first time. He brings plenty of experience, having 92 second-tier and 30 top-flight matches under his belt. In his last two starts, he scored a goal in each game (at the end of the last Bundesliga season against Freiburg and against Cologne in this).
Two new faces for the Old Lady
Compared to the heavy 4-1 home defeat against Elversberg, Hertha have made two changes to the starting lineup today: Pascal Klemens and Kevin Sessa replace Diego Demme and Luca Schuler (both on the bench).
Even experience
The eleven starters for Schalke have a combined total of 523 second-tier appearances, while those of Berlin have 522.
Schalke's starting line-up
Heekeren - Antwi-Adjei, Bulut, Kalas, Murkin - Grüger, Schallenberg - Mohr, Karaman, Younes - Sylla
Hertha's starting line-up
Ernst - Kenny, Leistner, M. Dárdai, Zeefuik - Klemens - Cuisance, Sessa, Maza - Thorsteinsson, Scherhant
Goals guaranteed
In the ten second division meetings between Schalke and Hertha, an average of over four goals have been scored per game. There has also never been a 0-0 draw.
Advantage Hertha
Hertha BSC have won five of their last six competitive matches against Schalke.
Not to be for Schalke
Hertha won twice last season, 2-1 away and 5-2 at home.
In tandem
Both clubs were relegated from the Bundesliga in 2022/23, and in the 2023/24 campaign they met again in the Bundesliga 2 for the first time since the 1989/90 season.
Fimpel on Hertha:
"Hertha is a team with strong playing ability and superb individual talents in the attack.
Therefore, it's important to put pressure on the ball, keep the opponent away from dangerous areas, and remain proactive ourselves. This must be our approach for tomorrow."
Fiél on Schalke:
"The goal is to do things differently at Schalke! When you look through Schalke's squad, you see a lot of individual quality. The expectations before the season may have been different."
