Full-time: Gladbach 0-1 Bayern

The second half offered far more attacking impetus for both sides. Bayern continued to be dominant, but Gladbach had chances of their own on the counter-attack. A foul on Olise by Ullrich gave way to a penalty for the visitors mid-way through the half, which Kane dispatched calmly. Whilst the hosts may rue missed chances from Kleindienst, they certainly could've been more than one goal behind if not for the heroics of Nicolas in goal.

How has he missed?

Coman is sent through down the left. Nicolas comes off his line, but Coman gets there first to stab it round the keeper and into the path of Sané. The German has an open net but sends the ball ballooning over the bar from the edge of the box. Not the birthday present he would've wanted...

Half-time: Gladbach 0-0 Bayern

It's been a game of few chances so far. Bayern have dominated the ball and suffocated any attacking threat from the hosts, but have struggled themselves to create any clear cut opportunities. Müller and Goretzka came closest, with the former's close-range effort being stopped well by a good reaction save from Nicolas, and the latter's shot flying wide from inside the six-yard box.

Vincent Kompany on facing Gladbach

"For Bayern it's always clear that we always want to win, regardless of where we're playing and how good the opposition is. They have a good mix of ability to play with the ball and also to win challenges. Tim Kleindienst up front is in good form. They've got a good balance with their wide men. It's a club with a German football identity. That's been the case for a long time. It makes this fixture special. We want to win it."

Gerardo Seoane on facing Bayern

“We have to be brave but that doesn't mean playing without our heads. It's about recognising the right time to threaten Bayern with a high press and when to sit off them."
