Full-time: Stuttgart 4-0 Freiburg

Freiburg simply could not overturn the first half deficit courtesy of Stuttgart's onslaught in this Baden-Württemberg derby. The second half was scrappy - Stuttgart didn't need to commit men forward, but Freiburg weren't creative enought to trouble the hosts. Undav came off the bench to find Stuttgart's fourth in the 80th minute with Stuttgart's first shot on target of the half. Never in doubt for Stuttgart!

xGoals
The xGoals value of a club is calculated from the sum of all goal probabilities (goals and shots on goal) of that team. During a match, it’s easy to see whether the club is performing better than expected (goals> xGoals) - or maybe even higher (xGoals> goals).
Despite the fact that Stuttgart have been significantly less dominant in the second half here, Freiburg simply haven't created enough chances to trouble the Swabians, which the xG reflects.

Undav makes it four!

He's not been on long but already he's found the net. Stuttgart combine well to turn defence into attack. Stiller plays Führich down the line on the left, who drives forward before laying it off for Undav on the edge of the box. The German has time to pick his spot, smashing home into the left of the goal.

Stiller chips one over for the substitute to run onto. He gets to the byline, where he attempts to cross into the path of Undav, but it's well overhit.

Half-time: Stuttgart 3-0 Freiburg

Stuttgart flew out of the gates here as they hunt down the Champions League places. Rouault got his first goal for the club with a header on the end of a Stiller corner in the second minute. Demirović doubled the lead 15 minutes later, on the end of yet another Stiller corner. He thought he'd scored again at the half-hour mark, but the VAR correctly disallowed it for offside. Freiburg looked to be stabilising, despite an injury to centre-back Ginter, but giving away a penalty right at the end of the half, which Woltemade dispatched, leaves them trailing 3-0 at the break. Millot and Lienhart both received yellow cards after the whistle went, for their complaints to the referee.

Corner to Stuttgart

Demirović receives the ball outside the box again. He attempts a left-footed shot through the legs of Lienhart, but it takes a deflection on its way through and goes just wide of the post and behind for a corner.

Well defended by Lienhart

Stuttgart look to attack down the left again through Leweling. He plays a cross to the far post again, in search of Demirović, but Lienhart uses his strength to put him off and make it a very tight angle, forcing the Stuttgart striker to slice his attempt and hit the outside of the post.

Freiburg growing

The Black Forest club have enjoyed a spell of possession since the disallowed goal, but, except for a corner which yielded nothing, they haven't managed to fashion any clear chances. Stuttgart look comfortable and are happy for the ball to be congested in the middle third.

Disallowed!

After a lengthy VAR check, Stuttgart's third is ruled out for an offside in the build-up, with Demirović himself the guilty party. It remains 2-0.

Up and down visitors

Freiburg's campaign under new coach Julian Schuster has been somewhat mixed this term, and a heavy midweek defeat against Eintracht Frankfurt will have done little for morale, especially with the Black Forest side seemingly struggling against the top teams in the league. That said This weekend's visitors are very much involved in the push for Europe.
