Watch: Emre Can - "I thought we played maturely"

The Borussia Dortmund captain was reflective but looking at the positives after a 2-2 draw at home to Werder Bremen on Matchday 19.

Full-time: Dortmund 2-2 Bremen

After a spectacular second half with the visitors growing in strength, BVB and Werder end up drawing 2-2. In the end, the result is absolutely fair, as the first half belonged to the hosts, who, a man down, fell off the pace towards the end.

Kobel off the line!

It's the excellent Kaboré from the left with a flat delivery to the second post, where Bittencourt arrives to finish. But Kobel blocks with his foot and the resulting corner comes to nothing. So close for Bremen!

Friedl commits a foul on the left edge of the box. The Bremen captain is shown the yellow card and BVB awarded a free-kick. Groß takes, but Zetterer is on hand to fist clear - for both this attempt and Beier's follow-up shot. A great double chance for BVB.

Three changes for Bremen

Ole Werner brings on three fresh faces, including Justin Njinmah as a striker. He replaces Grüll, who had the fewest touches of any player for Bremen and was unlucky today.

Guirassy forces own-goal

From a free-kick 40 yards out, Dortmund work a clever routine with Guirassy making a late run into a deep position on right-hand side of the area. Free of markers, the Guinea international deftly side-foots a low volley goal-wards and it deflects off Friedl and past a stranded Zetterer.

Half-time: Dortmund 1-0 Bremen

A trying first-ever half in the Dortmund dugout for interim coach Mike Tullberg, with an injury to Felix Nmecha and a red card for Nico Schlotterbeck. Nonetheless, the Danish coach's charges have been the more dangerous side and managed to go in front thanks to top scorer Serhou Guirassy. Can Bremen find more cutting edge in the second half or will the Tullberg era get off to a winning start?

Route one

Bremen are struggling to create chances and are often resorting to long balls. This time, Kobel gets there before Köhn, who otherwise has had little to do for BVB so far this afternoon.

Kobel vigilant

Zetterer, looking to get things moving, sends a long ball forward for Ducksch, but Dortmund's keeper is alert and gets to the ball before the Bremen striker.
31'

How will Werder react?

That is the question now after the surprising goal. In the first few minutes after the red card, it was not necessarily clear that the visitors were playing against ten men - but they weren't conceding much in the way of chances either.

BVB and send-offs

That was Dortmund's fifth red card in this Bundesliga season, more than any other side. After 19 matchdays, five send-offs is a BVB record, with only the 2007/08 season having seen as many at this point.

Schlotterbeck sees red

Adjudged to have prevented a clear goalscoring opportunity as he fouled Marvin Ducksch on the edge of he area, the Dortmund stopper sees red against Bremen for the second time this season. Although the resulting free-kick is innocuous, there is now even more pressure on interim Dortmund coach Mike Tullberg.

Weiser clears a cross from BVB for a corner, which is taken by Groß. Bremen's keeper fists the sharp cross out of the box, but right to the feet of Adeyemi. He shoots from distance, but Zetterer is again on the scene with the fists.

Watch: Who is Mike Tullberg?

Get to know the BVB U19s coach placed in interim charge of the senior team for Saturday's meeting with Bremen...
camera-photo

Mike Tullberg's view on facing Bremen

"One thing is clear: the players have not forgotten how to play football. We have very little time to train. My clear approach is to inject the team with energy and to encourage the boys so that we will see a team that gives everything, gives their all and plays free-flowing football."
camera-photo

Ole Werner's view on facing Dortmund

"Dortmund are at home and have a lot of individual quality. The change in coach creates some uncertainty in terms of our preparations, but we'll draw our own conclusions from the information we get. We can’t really have an influence on how [Mike Tullberg's] Dortmund play, apart from how we go about things on the pitch."

Dortmund have placed U19s coach Mike Tullberg in charge of the first team for Saturday's game, following the dismissal of Şahin. The Dane, 39, took over the Black & Yellows' second team in 2019. A year later, Tullberg became the U19s coach and, in 2022, steered them to the U19 Bundesliga title.
