CROSSBAR!
Inches away from an equaliser as Medic again gets his head to a second ball at a corner. He headed over last time but on this occasion crashes it off the crossbar.
79'
MAINA!
The Hannover youth product does so well up against both Pauli centre-backs, turning them inside and out before trying to bend one into the far corner with his right foot, but Vasilj gets just enough of a hand to it to turn it around the post. That could've wrapped things up.

SO CLOSE!
Hannover have suddenly burst back into life. Kerks turns his man on the left and flashes a ball across goal, but Beier was just a yard behind to turn it into an empty net.
63'
BUCHTMANN!
Seconds after coming on and Christopher Buchtmann comes close to an equaliser with an effort from the edge of the box, but Zieler is equal to it and parries behind.

MEDIC OVER
Paqarada eventually delivers a corner from the left after a discussion with the referee about where the ball was place. He pings it deep for Burgstaller to head back across. Medic gets his head to the second ball as well but only puts it over the bar.

AREMU BOOKED
The midfielder goes in hard on Maina and is shown the first card of the second half.

HALF-TIME
A very much deserved lead at the break for Hannover. They’ve had nine attempts on goal to Pauli’s two, with substitute Kerk’s close-range finish eventually giving them the breakthrough. Pauli were third at the start of today but haven’t played like a team at the top end so far. The hosts will feel very pleased with their efforts after 45 minutes.

ADDED TIME
Two minutes of at at the end of the first half.

HULT!
And another chance for the hosts as left-back Niklas Hult finds himself in space on the far side from a cross, but he also fails to beat Vasilj. Hinterseer then fires the rebound well over.
40'
MAIDEN GOAL
That was Kerk's first goal for Hannover. He got 10 for Osnabrück last season.
39'
KERK WITH THE BREAKTHROUGH!
You felt this was coming with Hannover's confidence so far. A cross from the left is only headed up and to the far post by Medic. Hinterseer is denied by a good save by Vasilj but he only parries it into the centre where Kerk is lurking to turn it home.

BECKER HAS A GO
Pauli register their first shot of the afternoon through Finn Becker, but his left-footed effort across Zieler backs power and is a comfortable hold for the 2014 World Cup winner.
25'
ONDOUA BOOKED
The Hannover midfielder takes down Kyereh on the break and is shown yellow.
22'
KERK WIDE
Hannover are starting to build up some momentum now. A ball falls kindly to Kerk on the edge of the box and he unleashes that deadly left foot of his, but doesn't catch things at all and drags his shot wide.
20'
MAINA OVER
Make that two attempts now as Linton Maina sets off down the left, driving at the Pauli defence. He opts for a shot from a few yards inside the box. It's always rising and he insists Vasilj got a hand to it, but referee Lechner points for a goal-kick.
18'
JUST ONE CHANCE
We're over a third of the way through the first half. Pauli are commanding possession with some 60%, but Hannover have had the only shot of the game so far through Beier.

BEIER!
The hosts then create the first real chance of the afternoon as a cross comes in from the left and Hoffenheim loanee Maximilian Beier gets a good head to it at the far post, but Vasilj is equal to it in the Pauli goal.

MAN DOWN
It means Hannover are having to play with 10 men for the moment while they prepare a replacement. Sebastian Kerk looks to be the man getting ready.
5'
FRANTZ'S DAY OVER
The experienced midfielder has walked off the pitch and signalled he can't continue with just five minutes on the clock. The physios are making their way around the pitch, but you suspect there's nothing they can do with a muscular problem.
3'
ZIELER UNSURE
A moment of early doubt for the Hannover goalkeeper as a cross from the left bounces awkwardly in front of him and he fails to collect it, but the home side to eventually clear their lines.

KICK-OFF APPROACHING
There's a good atmosphere inside the HDI Arena with around 17,000 in attendance - including 2,000 travelling Pauli supporters - and the players about to make their way out onto the pitch.
A TURNING POINT
Pauli won 3-2 at Hannover last season to end a run of 13 straight matches without three points in the league. It was seen as a turning point under Timo Schultz as the Hamburg club put in a strong second half of the season to ensure safety with time to spare. “When you look at how things have gone since that win, everything that’s been done and the shape we’re now in, then we can all be proud of that journey. But we can’t forget we still want to take further steps,” Schultz said ahead of the game.
HEAD-TO-HEAD
This is the 33rd time Hannover and Pauli have met in Bundesliga 2. These games tend to produce goals with an average of 2.4 per match. H96 also hold the advantage with 15 wins to Pauli’s 10, although seven of those 10 have come in Hanover.

PAULI TEAM NEWS
Meanwhile, Timo Schultz opts not to change a winning side and names the same team that ended Regensburg’s flawless start with a 2-0 victory on Matchday 5. Match-winner that day Guido Burgstaller and derby hero Simon Makienok lead the line again for Die Kiezkicker. Wales international James Lawrence continues to skipper the side with Philipp Ziereis not involved.
HANNOVER TEAM NEWS
Jan Zimmermann makes five changes from the 4-0 defeat to Darmstadt a fortnight ago. Niklas Hult, Mike Frantz, Gael Ondoua, Lukas Hinterseer and Maximilian Beier all come into the side as Sei Muroya, Dominik Kaiser, Sebastian Kerk, Philipp Ochs and Hendrik Weydandt drop to the bench in a reshuffled team.
