The final minutes are ticking away
Is there still a chance for something to happen? At the moment, Magdeburg are keeping Münster well away from their own goal.
86'
Schenk again
After a tame corner kick by Preußen, FCM counter-attack down the right flank. Substitute Teixeira eventually finds himself facing Schenk, but comes off second best in the one-on-one.
84'
Kaars spurns gilt-edged chance
After a one-two, Kaars finds himself free in front of Schenk just a few metres out, but shoots straight at the keeper. This could prove costly for FCM if SCP manage to equalise.
82'
Another yellow card
Michel interrupts a Münster attack with a foul on the half-way line and duly goes into the referee's book.
81'
Yellow card!
Kaars is caught offside and the whistle blows. He then picks up the ball instead of leaving it where it is and is shown a yellow card.

Now Lorenz is also involved - his dangerous crosses could be helpful for the home side in the final phase.

Into the wall
Münster are awarded a free kick in a central position 18 metres out. Preißinger takes charge of it but hits the first Magdeburg player in the wall. No danger.

There's the substitution
The goalscorer is now off, with Nollenberger coming on in his place.

Atik has to come off
Following a header, the Magdeburg player indicates that he's feeling a twinge in his thigh. He unequivocally signals that he cannot continue.
66'
Tactical foul
Ter Horst illegally stops a counter-attack in midfield and duly receives a yellow card.
65'
Just centimetres away
At the other end, Krempicki receives the ball just outside the penalty area and unleashes a powerful right-footed shot. It misses the right post by a whisker.
63'
Reimann looms large
Another good opportunity for the Eagles. On the left, Makridis leaves Hugonet in his wake with a step-over and bursts into the Magdeburg penalty area. He fires an effort towards the near post, but the FCM keeper spreads himself and blocks it.
62'
Dangerous!
The subsequent corner kick falls on the penalty spot for Mees, who has done well to shake off his marker, and he tries a volley. Well over the bar.
61'
Nice play
Mees enters the penalty area after a one-two with Németh and although he doesn't beat the keeper, he at least wins a corner.
59'
Münster make double change
Hildmann now reacts to the deficit and brings on two fresh attacking players. Kyerewaa in particular is known for his dribbling skills. Can he shake up the visitors' defence?

First booking for Magdeburg
Grodowski races past his opponent on the left flank and can only be stopped by a shirt pull. This results in a yellow card.
55'
FCM back in front!
The corner is taken short to El Hankouri in the right half-space, and he delivers a silky cross into the penalty area. Mathisen makes a brilliant run and scores with a header to make it 2-1. It's the first headed goal that Münster have conceded this season - a record in the Bundesliga 2.
53'
That could have been 2-1!
After a build-up on the left side, Kaars gets a shot from 11 metres out, but Schenk saves it, clearing the ball for a corner.
51'
Safe hands
At the other end, El Hankouri crosses the ball from the right flank to the far post, where Krempicki's finish fails to trouble Münster's keeper.
49'
Over the top
Makridis delivers a free-kick from the left half-space high towards the penalty spot, where Koulis gets his head on it - only to see his effort fly over the bar and land on top of the goal.
46'
Second half begins
The second half is underway. FCM coach Christian Titz makes three substitutions at half-time. Münster, on the other hand, have not made any personnel changes yet.

Half-time: Preußen Münster 1-1 Magdeburg
The teams go into the break level at 1-1 - a fair reflection of the course of the game. Magdeburg took the lead with their first real chance and had significantly more possession. Despite falling behind, Münster refused to give up, created a few decent opportunities and equalised through a header from Mees. This promises an exciting second half!

Avoidable card
After Magdeburg are awarded a free kick in midfield, Németh stands in front of the ball and prevents Mathisen from taking it quickly. The Münster forward receives a yellow card for his trouble.
44'
Not like that!
Mathisen pushes forward and tries a shot from about 25 metres out. However, his ball rolls wide to the left and, given its lack of power, would likely not have troubled Schenk anyway.

41'
Dangerous loss of possession
Kirkeskov loses the ball in front of his own penalty area, prompting Atik to penetrates the area and look for a shot. Münster clear the ball for a corner that doesn't produce anything noteworthy.
38'
The equaliser!
Münster are back in it! And considering the last few minutes, it's deserved. Makridis finds Mees with a cross from the left into the opposition's six-yard box, and the former Kiel player heads it in from close range. It's 1-1!
36'
Grateful
Ter Horst heads a through-ball directly towards the opposition goal but Reimann easily beats everyone to it. So far, it has been a pleasant homecoming for the goalkeeper in the FCM jersey.
32'
Németh!
Münster's top assist provider (three assists), who is yet to score himself this season, tries from 18 metres out. Reimann manages to clear the wickedly bouncing shot, but it falls to Koulis, whose attempt from distance flies out of the stadium (there's no stand behind the Magdeburg goal!).
30'
Out of bounds
Atik beautifully threads the ball through to Kaars, who manages to round Münster's goalkeeper Schenk but fails to keep the ball in play. The match continues with a goal kick for SCP.
27'
Burcu can't get through
The winger enters the Münster penalty area, but gets caught up in the hosts' crowded defence.

Taken out
El Hankouri stops Mees with a foul at the halfway line, but gets away with just a warning. Otherwise, it has been a very fair contest so far.
16'
Another attempt
Mees holds off Heber in front of the opposition's penalty area and takes a shot, but his effort sails over the cross-bar. Despite being behind, Münster are playing with plenty of courage.
14'
Almost an immediate response
Reimann completely mishits a goal-kick and the ball falls to Preißinger. He tries to shoot firs time, as the Magdeburg goal is empty, but his attempt goes well over. There was potential for much better there.
12'
The visitors take the lead!
That was simple, but well executed. Hugonet delivers a precise cross from the right flank that beats the defence as it sails to the penalty spot, where Atik has made a run and heads the ball spectacularly into the top right corner.
11'
Grodowski in demand
The Münster striker is particularly known for his pace, so he's being sought with a long ball. However, his opponent Heber was alert and managed to intercept the ball.
9'
Well over
After a corner kick, Münster fail to clear the ball properly. Magdeburg work the ball around the area and after a third lofted cross, Kaars finally gets a shot off. However, he blasts the ball into the stands.
6'
First good chance!
Ter Horst's high free-kick delivery finds the head of Koulis, who flicks the ball just wide of the far post. That caused a first murmur to ripple through the stadium.
5'
Münster applying pressure
The Eagles have spent the majority of the first few minutes in Magdeburg's half and earn themselves a free-kick on the right edge of the penalty area.
2'
Magdeburg fired up
As a goal-kick is taken short by the home side, Atik runs into the Münster penalty area too early and is called back. The FCM striker was a bit too eager there.
1'
The ball is rolling!
Preußen, playing in white and green, have kicked off against visitors Magdeburg in black.
Kick-off!
The stage is set
The teams are entering the fully packed Preußenstadion. The conditions are perfect for a great evening of football, let's get it!
Young Eagles
Münster's starting XI has an average age of exactly 26 years, making it the youngest lineup the club has fielded in the Bundesliga 2 this season.
Two changes for FCM
Magdeburg also make two changes to the starting lineup from the 1-3 loss to Hertha: Marcus Mathisen (the defensive leader was suspended due to yellow cards last matchday) and Baris Atik start today, while Tobias Müller and Xavier Amaechi have to settle for a place on the bench.
Hendrix absent
Münster make two changes to the starting lineup from the 0-0 draw in Darmstadt last Saturday: Bazzoli and Németh start in place of Bouchama and Hendrix. The Dutchman is thus missing from his team for the first time this season in the second division, having previously been in the starting XI for all 14 matches
Magdeburg starting XI
Reimann - Mathisen, Hugonet, Heber - Gnaka - Hercher, El Hankouri, Loric - Atik, Kaars, Burcu
Preußen Münster starting XI
Schenk - ter Horst, Koulis, Frenkert, Kirkeskov - Bazzoli, Preißinger - Mees, Makridis - Nemeth, Grodowski
Sascha Hildmann on Magdeburg
"Magdeburg have some excellent footballers in their ranks and belong to the leading pack. We want to get the three points against them. It will be a challenge, but I would be thrilled if we could do it. We've gone close recently, now we want to succeed."
Christian Titz on Münster
"Münster are a team that has settled into the league. They are combative and eager to run. They have shown both sides of their game this season and they have good qualities when it comes to set pieces."
Former Magdeburg player
Münster midfielder Rico Preißinger played for FCM between 2018 and 2020, being relegated from the Bundesliga 2 in 2019.
Münster native
Magdeburg goalkeeper Dominik Reimann was born in Münster but never played for Preußen. As a child, he moved from ESV Münster to Borussia Dortmund.
Premiere in the Bundesliga 2
There have been ten encounters between the two clubs (eight in the third division and two in the Regionalliga Nord), with the record clearly in Magdeburg's favour: six wins, two draws and two losses, but this will be the first in Germany's second tier.
Recent meetings in the lower leagues
Münster and Magdeburg last played against each other in the 3rd division, back in 2019/20. At home, Preußen won 2-0, while at Magdeburg it ended in a 2-2 draw.
