Conclusion

That's it! Hannover and Hertha part ways goalless. After Hannover dominated the first half, the picture changed following Kunze's sending off, but the visitors couldn't capitalise on their chances either. Dárdai also saw a second yellow card shortly before the end.

Applying pressure

Maza delivers a low cross from the left, but fails to find a teammate. A botched clearance lands in the left side of the box, where Scherhant volleys it first-time - the ball whistles just wide of the right post. With the numerical advantage, the visitors are now showing much more initiative.
68'

Second red card for Hannover

Kunze received the second red card for the hosts this season, following Max Christiansen's dismissal against Cologne. That time, too, it happened relatively early with the score level.
66'

Slow pace

There's currently little action in front of either goal, due to too many loose passes.
53'

No way through

Kunze and Tresoldi can't find a way through on the right side against Hertha's well-positioned defence. The ball keeps coming back to Zieler.
50'

Too steep

Wdowik delivers the ball from the left half-space in a mixture of shot and cross towards the far corner, a Hertha player heads it out for a corner before Tresoldi can reach it.

The ball is rolling in Hannover, the home side get the match underway.
Kick-off!

Minute of silence

Before kick-off, players and fans together commemorate the victims and injured of the terrible attack on the Christmas market in Magdeburg on Friday.

Season premiere as a starter

Kolja Oudenne is allowed to start for the first time this season after three previous substitute appearances. The last time he was in the starting lineup was on 5 May in a 3-2 home victory against Paderborn.

Chance for redemption

Hertha starts with the same starting eleven from the last matchday where they lost 2-1 against Münster. The Berliners had played a very decent first half, only to completely lose control after the break.

Three changes for Hannover

Compared to the 0-1 loss in Fürth, there are three changes in Hannover's starting lineup: Wdowik, Oudenne and Nielsen start in place of Neumann (not in the squad), Dehm and Voglsammer (bench).

This is how Hertha lines up

Ernst - Kenny, Leistner (c), Dárdai, Zeefuik - Klemens, Demme - Cuisance, Maza, Scherhant - Niederlechner

This is how Hannover lines up

Zieler (c) - Muroya, Knight, Halstenberg, Wdowik - Leopold, Kunze - Lee, Oudenne - Nielsen, Tresoldi

A reason for hope

If Kaiserslautern and Cologne draw, Hannover would need to win by a four-goal margin. A look at the Bundesliga provides a bit of hope, as three out of seven matches played so far have been won by a four-goal margin!

How Hannover can become autumn champions

The prerequisite for winning the autumn championship is a home victory against Hertha. However, that's not the only requirement - Cologne must lose to Kaiserslautern in one of today's other games, otherwise a win won't be sufficient for the 96ers.

Minute’s silence for victims of attack in Magdeburg

The DFL Deutsche Fußball Liga has recommended that teams wear black armbands and observe a minute’s silence for the remaining fixtures on Bundesliga Matchday 15 and Matchday 17 in Bundesliga 2 to remember the victims of Friday’s attack at the Christmas market in Magdeburg.

Cristian Fiél on facing Hannover

"We want to end the year on a high note. To do that, we need to engage in duels and win them. We must take responsibility in our one-on-one battles. That will be our main focus against Hannover."

Stefan Leitl on facing Hertha

"A lot of quality is coming our way. But we also have the self-confidence and courage to say that we want to dominate this match. And that's how we're approaching it."

Lucky charm

Kevin Sessa has faced Hannover five times in Bundesliga 2 and won every time.

Familiar face

Jessic Ngankam was born in Berlin and played for Hertha for a total of 16 years, making his first professional appearances for the club (37 Bundesliga matches, six goals).

No winner

The last two encounters have ended in a draw (2-2 in Hannover and 1-1 in Berlin in the previous season).

Good record

Hertha have lost only one of their last nine competitive matches against Hannover (3-1 home win for the Lower Saxony side in May 2018 in the Bundesliga, with Niclas Füllkrug among the scorers).
