Full-time: Paderborn 1-2 Hertha Berlin
Hertha deservedly win 2-1 in Paderborn thanks to a strong first half and good perseverance in the second half. Although the hosts were more eager to shoot after the break, they were too wasteful with their chances.

Kick-off!
A century of appearances in Bundesliga 2
Comeback player Kevin Sessa celebrates a milestone today, making his 100th appearance in the German second division.
A change in goal
Regular goalkeeper Tjark Ernst is absent, Marius Gersbeck replaces him for only his second competitive appearance this season. Previously this season, he was between the sticks for Hertha in August 2024 during the 5-1 cup victory in Rostock. Gersbeck last played in Bundesliga 2 in April 2024 - also here in Paderborn, where Hertha won 3-2.
Sessa fit again
Fabian Reese is still absent, and Diego Demme is also unavailable. But there's good news for Cristian Fiél: Kevin Sessa has recovered and is playing for the first time since the end of November. Additionally, Marten Winkler and Linus Gechter are back on the bench and so present more options for the head coach.
Dárdai replaces Dárdai
Marton Dárdai, suspended due to a red card last time out, is replaced by his brother Palko, who is in the starting lineup for only the third time this season. He was previously named in the starting XI in Hertha's first meeting with Paderborn and on matchday 12 during the defeat in Darmstadt.
Musliu starts
In the first two matchdays of the season, Visar Musliu was part of the starting XI, but after that, the North Macedonian only had two brief appearances. Today he gets to show himself again, stepping in for the absent Calvon Brackelmann.
Two winter signings start
The winter transfer window acquisitions Marvin Mehlem and Casper Terho are both in the starting XI for Paderborn. It's a debut for the young Finn, while Mehlem brings experience from 172 second-division matches. His brother Marcel Mehlem once played for Paderborn as well.
Hertha Berlin starting XI
Gersbeck - Kenny, Leistner, Klemens, Zeefuik - Cuisance, Sessa - Dárdai, Maza, Scherhant - Niederlechner
Paderborn starting XI
Schubert - Curda, Scheller, Musliu - Obermair, Mehlem, Castaneda, Zehnter - Bilbija, Terho - Platte
Cristian Fiél on facing Paderborn
"When you go through Paderborn's squad, I believe they have many options, especially in attack. I think they've signed a really good lad in Mehlem. Ultimately, we've talked about opponents so often, now it's time to change the situation. We are responsible for that, and the lads know what's coming on Sunday. And - this is the important part - they also know what sort of performance we need to put in to be able to compete and be successful in Paderborn."
Lukas Kwasniok on facing Hertha
"Hertha play similarly to us. It will be an evenly matched duel. They stop attacks with significantly more fouls than any other team. They have the most yellow cards. It's cleverly done - in the moment you lose the ball, you sometimes have to commit a tactical foul, even as an offensively-minded team. They might even be a step ahead of us in that regard."
Safe travels
Hertha have won their last two matches in Paderborn: in the Bundesliga 2 last season (3-2) and in the 2019/20 Bundesliga season (2-1).
Losing streak over
With a 2-1 victory in Berlin in the first half of the season, Paderborn ended their streak of five consecutive defeats against Hertha.
Twice as successful
In the seven previous Bundesliga 2 encounters between these clubs, Hertha have celebrated twice as many victories (four) as Paderborn (two).
