Full-time: HSV 5-0 Regensburg

Hamburg deservedly win against Jahn Regensburg and in some style! After a dream start, the home side took their foot off the gas, but Jean-Luc Dompé and Davie Selke came off the bench to spark a goal fest. For Regensburg, this was simply a bad day at the office.

Dompé again!

It's five for HSV! The speedy winger has plenty of space down the left and once again cuts inside dynamically before placing the ball into the far corner.

The xGoals value of a club is calculated from the sum of all goal probabilities (goals and shots on goal) of that team. During a match, it’s easy to see whether the club is performing better than expected (goals > xGoals) - or maybe even higher (xGoals > goals).
Christian Viet had the only shot on goal for Regensburg so far in the 23rd minute. They need to do a whole lot more to pick up anything from this game.

Optimistic!

Hamburg combine well on the right side of the penalty area, and Königsdörffer eventually tries a shot from a tight angle. That needed to be extra special to go in, and it wasn't on this occasion.

Half-time: Hamburg 2-0 Regensburg

HSV enjoyed a dream start with Königsdörffer's goal and followed it when Glatzel made it 2-0 after 14 minutes. Regensburg appeared to have equalise shortly after conceding the first, but the goal was disallowed due to an offside. All in all, the hosts have dominated the match and could even be leading by a bigger margin.

Starting opportunity for Ziegele

Ziegele is in Jahn's Bundesliga 2 starting XI for the first time this season having previously made three substitute appearances. The 27-year-old, though, did play from the off in the first round of the DFB Cup against VfL Bochum, playing the full 90 minutes of a 1-0 home triumph.

First start for Richter

New signing Marco Richter - on loan from Mainz since the end of August - is in the starting HSV XI for the first time. Last time out, the 26-year-old made his debut for Hamburg as a substitute in the 4-1 home victory against Münster.

One change for Regensburg

Jahn coach Joe Enochs makes one change to his starting eleven in the aftermath of the 0-4 home defeat against Fürth, as Robin Ziegele comes in for Benedikt Saller.

Hamburg make two changes

HSV coach Baumgart makes two changes to his starting line-up from the 4-1 home victory against Münster. Sebastian Schonlau and Marco Richter come in for Adam Karabec (not in the squad) and Immanuël Pherai (on the bench).

Regensburg starting XI

Gebhardt - Ziegele, Ballas, Breunig, Schönfelder - Ernst, Geipl - Pröger, Viet, Kother - Kühlwetter

HSV starting XI

Heuer Fernandes - Hefti, Hadžikadunić, Schonlau, Muheim - Meffert - Richter, Elfadli, Baldé - Glatzel, Königsdörffer

The refereeing team

Enochs' thoughts

"In recent matches, HSV have shown the enormous quality they possess. We need to make sure we do not lose the ball often in the middle of the park. Hamburg have been particularly dangerous in the first half of games so far, which means we need to be alert from the off and be present all over the pitch."

Baumgart's thoughts

"Against Münster, we had phases where we struggled even though the result was decisive. Regensburg are very combative and have a plan. We want to keep the three points here at all costs, and that must be our objective."

Meffert extends contract

On Friday, HSV announced midfield strategist Jonas Meffert's contract extension - his deal was set to expire in the summer. "We fought hard for him for a long time, but my stance was always clear. I'm glad that we have now finalised the extension. We want to be successful with him," head coach Steffen Baumgart explained at the pre-match press conference.
