LATE DRAMA?

Hannover have come closest to grabbing the next goal in this game, but time is running out for them to find an equaliser with added time upon us.
80'

HARAGUCHI SO CLOSE!

A lovely, slaloming run across the edge of the box sees Haraguchi shoot at goal at the end of it. A deflection takes it wide of goal and Schalke look rattled at the back. If a team is going to score here, it will surely be Hannover, unless the Royal Blues can catch them on the counter.
76'

BIG SAVE FROM NÜBEL!

The Schalke shot-stopper does his job superbly to keep the away side ahead here. Haraguchi found Müller in front of goal and his left-footed shot was goal-bound, but Nübel's left-handed save is a world-class one.
75'

OFF THE BAR!

Muslija cuts inside from the left wing and strikes at goal, but is left having to watch his effort bounce off the top of the crossbar and over Nübel's goal for a goal kick. Hannover are pressing for an equaliser with all they have, here...
73'

UTH'S SHOT BLOCKED

Embolo plays Uth in on goal but his shot is well blocked by a sliding Anton. The German international looking to grab his third goal of the season, but his chances have been few and far between today.
67'

A GOOD OMEN FOR SCHALKE?

This is the first time in 2019 that Schalke have been ahead at half-time in the Bundesliga. It happened three times in the first half of the season, and Schalke went on to win on each ocassion.

HANNOVER ON TOP

It's been a rough start to the second half with neither team taking full control, but Hannover are showing that they mean business now. Maina drags a shot just wide of Nübel's goal while Felipe is on for Albornoz which should see the home side switch to a three-man defence.
51'

MÜLLER GOES CLOSE!

A big chance at the back post for Nicolai Müller as Weydandt flicks on Schwegler's cross, but he can't get his header on target, sending it past Nübel's post.

SCHALKES MOST IMPORTANT GOAL OF THE SEASON?

The game was wide open for most of that first half and could've gone either way before Suat Serdar struck to give Schalke the lead. It's a goal which has them climbing above Augsburg, and six points clear of the relegation play-off spot.
39'

SERDAR STRIKES!

His first goal of the season and what an important one. Stambouli battles his way down the right flank before crossing to the near post. Serdar's first touch is outstanding and sets himself up for a shot on goal, which he emphatically strikes low past Esser into the far bottom corner.

SCHALKE FINDING THEIR WAY

A few good minutes of possession and passing play from the away side here. Stambouli has the first real effort on goal as he brings the ball forward from the right and fires at goal from the edge of the box, but Esser is down well to his left to make a good save.
28'

HARAGUCHI FIRES WIDE

Still looking for his first goal of the season, Haraguchi came close there as he dribble his way past a couple of Schalke defenders before curling a shot from his left foot towards goal. It drags just wide of Nübel's goal, though, but the home side are showing confidence on the ball here. Not allowing Schalke anytime to build possession.
18'

WEYDANDT FORCES A REMARKABLE SAVE

A corner swings in and is cleared, but the ball comes back in from the home side and falls to Weydandt around 8 yards out. He fires a shot at goal, but Nübel produces a fantastic save to tip the ball over the crossbar.
12'

NASTASIC HEADS JUST WIDE

Rudy whips in a perfect free-kick which meets the Serbian's head as he runs into the box. He glances the ball off his head, but it drifts just wide of the Hannover goal with Esser stranded. A huge chance for Schalke to take the lead here.
8'

THREE-MAN DEFENCE

Huub Stevens has sent out his team with a three-man defence, consisting of Bruma, Sane and Nastasic. Stambouli is playing at right wing-back, with Mascarell, Rudy and Serdar in the middle. A change of tactic, will it work?
5'

FIERY START

Big challenges going in from the home side in the early minutes, but no cautions so far. The atmosphere is loud and proud here from both sets of fans. Schalke have started the better of the two sides, but neither goalkeeper has had work to do so far.
