A SHARE OF THE SPOILS IN GLADBACH
Both sides will be happy to start the season with a point, but both sides will also be disappointed to have not done more today. Major chances for both came for Alassane Plea, who hit the post, and Benito Raman, who missed a one-on-one. Schalke come up against Bayern at home next week, while Gladbach travel to Mainz.

NÜBEL SAVES THE DAY AGAIN
A nice break from Gladbach through the middle with Plea. The Frenchman has options but goes for goal himself. His effort goes straight into the arms of Nübel, though.

SCHALKE COME STRAIGHT BACK
The Royal Blues have a chance just a minute later as Harit's ball to the back post is found by Caligiuri. He turns onto his left foot and shoots at goal, but fires it over the crossbar.

RAFFAEL IMMEDIATELY INVOLVED!
The Brazilian unleashes a rasping shot with his left foot from the edge of the box which forces Nübel into a fantastic diving save to his right.

SCRAMBLE IN THE BOX
Gladbach almost find the net in the most bizarre fashion as the Schalke defence can't seem to clear the ball away. Stambouli's attempted pass was blocked by Johnson, and Nübel and Nastastic couldn't decide which one should smash the ball away. In the end, though, they cleared their lines.

BURGSTALLER FIRES WIDE
A long ball is brought down superbly by Raman, who finds Burgstaller on the run into the box with his first touch. The Austrian strike goals for goal with his left, but drags his effort across goal and beyond Sommer's reach.

MOMENT OF MAGIC TO CHANGE THE GAME?
We're yet to have a shot on target in this game, with Plea coming closest to a goal but hitting the far post with his strike. Gladbach are in total control of this game in this second half in terms of possession, but Schalke's compact shape is not allowing them any creative room in attack.

NASTASIC IN A GOOD SPOT
A Schalke corner is head up in the air by McKennie and the American wins the second ball as well, with the ball dropping to the feet of Nastasic in the box. He turns and shoots first-time, but the ball goes straight into the arms of Sommer.

OFF THE POST!
Wow. The biggest chance of the game falls to the one player you'd expect to score most. The ball runs through the Schalke defence after a mistake from Nastasic and Plea is clean through in the box. He beats Nübel, but his effort hits the outside of the post and goes wide of goal...

ALL TO PLAY FOR
It's going to be a second half you don't want to miss in Mönchengladbach with everything possible after half-time. The best chance of the game fell to Benito Raman as he failed to score when played in one-on-one, while Gladbach have done well around the box, but the final ball has been lacking so far.

SCRAMBLE IN THE GLADBACH BOX
Nastasic comes within inches of opening the scoring as Burgstaller's header back across goal from a corner drifts towards the far post. The ball is inches from the Schalke defender, but eventually bounces through to Sommer.

NO WORK FOR THE KEEPERS SO FAR
Neither Yann Sommer or Alexander Nübel have had to make a save so far, with two shots on goal for either side. Credit to both team's defences in this case.

RAMAN FLUFFS HIS LINES
The Belgian shows his pace to get behind the Gladbach defence to latch on to a long ball, but his shot at goal is a poor one as he totally slices the ball wide.

BOTH SIDS TRYING TO FIND THEIR GROOVE
A frustrating start to this game for both sides with each squad looking to instil their gameplan, but both are cancelling each other out so far...

GLADBACH WITH ALL THE BALL
The home side are enjoying almost 70 per cent of possession here in the opening 10 minutes. Embolo is getting in good positions as the No. 10 in this formation of 4-3-1-2, and crosses are beginning to fly into the Schalke box. But both sides have started confidently.

FIRST CHANCE OF THE DAY
The visitors have the first major chance of the day as Jonjoe Kenny's low cross into the box from the right flank is perfectly placed and Benito Raman can shoot at goal. But it goes wide of the mark.

UNDERWAY IN GLADBACH!
Marcus Thuram has a huge smile on his face as we get things underway, must be loving this incredible atmosphere inside Borussia-Park. The home and away fans so happy to have football back.

READY FOR MORE?
25 goals in our six matches played so far on the opening weekend. Did you expect anything else of the Bundesliga? There will surely be more to come this evening...
THE BUNDESLIGAS YOUNGEST CAPTAIN
Alexander Nübel makes his first start as Schalke captain this evening at the age of 22. He's the youngest captain in the Bundesliga, named by David Wagner as the man to lead Schalke this season.
WAGNERS FIRST SCHALKE XI
There are two debutants in the Royal Blue team with Jonjoe Kenny at right-back and Benito Raman in attack. With Kenny in defence, Daniel Caligiuri has become a winger on the right side. Weston McKennie starts in midfield on the opening day for Schalke.
ATTACK THE ORDER OF THE DAY FOR THE FOALS
Attack is the best form of defence for Borussia Mönchengladbach on the opening day of the season. Breel Embolo starts against his former club alongside Marcus Thuram and Alassane Plea in the attack. Add to that a midfield containing Florian Neuhaus and the Schalke defence could be in for a lot of work at Borussia-Park this evening.
