LATE, LATE DRAMA

Cologne must feel sick. Having led in the first half, they’ve gone on to lose this through a 98th-minute penalty after Adamyan’s equaliser right at the start of the second half. It keeps the Billy Goats second from bottom but Hoffenheim are up to second overnight thanks to a club-record sixth consecutive win in all competitions.

COOL AS YOU LIKE

Horn guesses right down to his right but Locadia has too much on it and the Cologne keeper can't stop the ball flying into his net. That's a sickening blow to the Billy Goats.

PENALTY TO TSG!

The referee points to the spot! Jürgen Locadia has the ball.

VAR CHECK

It has gone incredibly quiet inside the RheinEnergieStadion as Adamyan goes down in the box under a challenge and asks for a penalty. Referee Kampka goes over to the monitor for another look.

WAS THAT THE CHANCE?!

The entire city of Cologne just sprung to its feet as Drexler skipped past Stafylidis into the box and forced Baumann into a low save. The rebound is still there though and Terodde tries to flick the follow-up shot towards goal but misses it on the edge of the six-yard box.

EHIZIBUE DOWN

A chip into the Cologne box sees Horn fly off his line looking to punch clear. He does also takes some of Ehizibue with him and the full-back is down and looking somewhat dazed as we enter four additional minutes.
83'

BOLD BEIERLORZER

And it's a bold move from the Billy Goats boss as he sends on a forward for one of his centre-backs.
82'

TERODDE ON THE STRETCH

The big striker has been quiet this half but is alert to a long ball coming over from the left. He has to stretch to reach it and fails to make proper contact, appearing to hurt himself in the process but continues as Cologne prepare their final change with Kingsley Schindler standing ready.
80'

AAH SEBASTIAAN

Not the best-timed challenge from the Cologne centre-back as he goes in on Adamyan.
78'

PLAY SLOWING?

A number of substitutions, as well as a stop to remove some trespassers, seems to have taken the sting out of this game. Are we going to get out traditional 1-1 draw between Cologne and Hoffenheim on a Friday night?
71'

WELCOME BACK BIRGER

Birger Verstraete is back from injury for his first appearance since September's derby loss to Gladbach.
66'

DEFLECTED

Ehizibue sees his chance from a good 30 yards and lets fly but the ball's deflected behind for a corner, which ends up in the arms of Baumann. Cologne are also preparing their first change of the evening.
61'

LOCADIA!

Adamyan's deft header from a long ball falls perfectly into the path of Jürgen Locadia, who pulls the trigger from the edge of the box, leaves Horn flatfooted, but drills it wide of the far post. With a goal in each of his last two games, you'd expect him to bury that.
55'

CORDOBA LURKING

The Colombian is at the far post and his eyes light up as a ball comes into the box but Benjamin Hübner does very well to get in front of the striker and clear away from his goal while sliding towards his own net in the six-yard box.
54'

SKOV OVER THE BALL

Robert Skov standing over a free-kick spells danger like few other set pieces in world football. The Dane hits this one from a good 25 yards and it dips in front of Horn but the Cologne goalkeeper does well to judge it and hold on.
50'

WIDE FROM CORDOBA

Cologne's goalscorer tries to restore the lead with another effort from the edge of the box but he miscues the shot and slices it well wide.
48'

ADAMYAN STRIKES!

The change works a treat for Hoffenheim as they're immediately back level. Rudy's cross - now his 28th Bundesliga assist for TSG and a new outright club record - is perfectly bent to match the run of the Armenian and he slots the volley beyond Horn.

ADAMYAN ON

Schreuder has indeed reacted and sent on a third striker in Sargis Adamyan, their two-goal hero against Bayern a few weeks ago. It’s Lukas Rupp who makes way.

UNHAPPY HOFFENHEIM?

Alfred Schreuder’s side have dominated possession but in reality have done very little with it in the first half. The hosts have created all the chances and in fact Timo Horn is yet to be tested in the Cologne goal. The Billy Goats won’t mind that at all, but TSG will be looking for a change when we restart.

RUDY CAUTIONED

Sebastian Rudy has a little shove into the back of his Germany international teammate Jonas Hector and, perhaps thanks to a little moaning, picks up his fourth booking of the campaign.

TWO MINUTES

Just a couple of minutes added onto the first 45 at the RheinEnergieStadion.
44'

CALM DOWN LADS

Schaub goes in rather hard but completely fairly on Kaderabek and there's a little coming together afterwards. Referee Kampka tells both players to cool it and get on with the game.
37'

LONG TIME COMING

This is the Colombian's 27th match in the Bundesliga with Cologne and it's taken him 52 attempts on goal to find the back of the net. To be fair, he did score 20 in Bundesliga 2 last season.
34'

CORDOBA WITH THE LEAD!

He scored his first Bundesliga goal against Hoffenheim for Mainz back in 2016, and now Jhon Cordoba has his first in the top flight since May 2017. Picking up the ball just right of centre and 20 yards out, he places it through a crowd of TSG defenders and acorss Baumann into the far corner.

31'

TERODDE!

Schaub's ball into the six-yard box finds top scorer Simon Terodde lurking. He gets to the cross first, perhaps mostly with his arm, but it pops up nicely into the arms of Oliver Baumann in any case.
29'

CARD FOR SKOV

This time the Dane can't stop Ehizibue and trips him as the full-back looks to cut inside.
29'

RUPP DOWN

The game has stopped for a moment as Lukas Rupp receives treatment following a collision with Cologne captain Jonas Hector. All appears to be fine, though.
29'

RUDY!

Another midfielder finding his way into the Cologne box. Ihlas Bebou flicks a fizzed ball from Kaderabek around the corner and into the feet of Sebastian Rudy, but the German international drags his effort wide.
19'

GRILLITSCH!

The midfielder does manage to get forward this time and find his way into the box after evading a number of challenges. He rounds Timo Horn but the angle it too sight to he opts to pass across the face of goal, where Pavel Kaderabek comes charging in but has his effort blocked.
15'

EARLY CARD

Rafael Czichos steps across to halt Florian Grillitsch's run and the Cologne centre-back picks up his first booking of the season.
11'

EARLY PRESS

Cologne are in fact very eager to press, but perhaps too much so as they're penalised by referee robert Kampka for encroaching at a goal-kick.
10'

PASS AND MOVE

Both sides appear content to pass the ball around in the safety of their own half and wait for the press to come before they break forward.
5'

EHIZIBUE ROUND THE BACK

The fastest player ever recorded in the Bundesliga is on the march again down the right as Louis Schaub picks him out, but Robert Skov does very well to track the Cologne right-back into the box and block his low cross.

PARTY TIME

Cologne, sporting their all-red Carnival kit ahead of the festival's opening next week, get the game underway. Hoffenheim are in a rather slick black number.
Kick-off!

FULL HOUSE

As ever in Cologne, the RheinEnergieStadion is packed to the rafters and the home fans are belting out their anthem as the players emerge from the tunnel. For a team with just one home win all season, it's remarkable support.

WHICH WAY WILL IT GO?

Hoffenheim are on a six-match unbeaten run in the Bundesliga against Cologne, conceding just two goals in that time. Their last top-flight season together saw TSG win 3-0 at the RheinEnergieStadion before a 6-0 victory at home, which is their biggest ever win in the Bundesliga. But as a slither of hope to the home side, both previous Friday meetings between these sides have taken place in Cologne and finished 1-1. You suspect the Billy Goats may accept that in their position.

ONE CHANGE AT THE BACK

Hoffenheim coach Alfred Schreuder comes into the game much happier than his counterpart on the back of five successive wins in all competitions – a sixth would be a new club record. The Dutchman makes just one change at the back following last Friday’s 3-0 win over Paderborn with Stefan Posch replacing Kevin Akpoguma.

THREE COLOGNE CHANGES

Achim Beierlorzer brings in three new faces after Sunday’s derby loss at Fortuna. Jorge Mere returns for the first time since September, while Jhon Cordoba also comes back in. Ismael Jakobs on the left wing is making his Bundesliga debut at the age of 20. His only previous appearance in a senior Cologne squad was in the DFB Cup at Saarbrücken.

HOFFENHEIM XI
