WHAT AN INCREDIBLE WIN!

Having gone down to 10 men while 1-0 up at half-time, you would not have been surprised to see Mainz sit back and try to take what they already had from Hoffenheim - a team who had won their last five league games. But Mainz came out and produced one of the most fantastic team performances we have seen all season, scoring four goals in the second half with one man fewer than their hosts.  Achim Beierlorzer could not have dreamed of a better start to life in Mainz.

WOW WOW WOW!

Mainz have produced one of the most emphatic team performances of the season so far. Latza plays the ball to his left and Awoniyi does the same for Kunde, who charges at goal and slots it past Baumann with ease.

WHAT A GOAL FROM BOETIUS

He collects the ball on the halfway line and decides to just go for it. He skips past one defender before pushing the ball past Vogt and powering at goal with only the goalkeeper to beat. He cooly slots the ball past Baumann and the entire Mainz bench charges up the sideline to celebrate. What a way to seal all three points.

WHAT A SAVE FROM ZENTNER!

Stafylidis' shot from the edge of the box is controlled by Kramaric in the Mainz box with no one around him. He turns and shoots from point-blank range, but Zentner dives to his right and parries the ball past his far post fantastically. Incredible goalkeeping.

LATE COMEBACK?

It's all Hoffenheim now who have three chances in the space of just a few minutes. St. Juste clears a low cross away, before Niakhate heads the ball over his own crossbar after a header at goal from a corner. The final attempt from Grillitsch sees a header go over the goal from the second corner of the play.

KRAMARIC FINDS A WAY

The Croatian finally finds a way to get Hoffenheim a goal. He's played the ball at the back post and works inches of space with Martin challenging him to earn a shot at goal, which goes past Zentner and into the top corner of the Hoffenheim goal.

KADERABEK DENIED BY ZENTNER

The full-back rises highest and powers a header at goal from the middle of the six-yard box, but Zentner is perfectly positioned to parry it away. He's having another fantastic game.

LIVERPOOL LOANEE COMES ON

He had to wait to come on having picked up Adam Szalai's shirt instead of his own, but now Taiwo Awoniyi is on for the final 15 minutes here.

MAINZ PILING ON THE PRESSURE

The away side are by no means sitting back and inviting pressure here, they are going for more goals in this game. Without the ball they are defensively set to keep everything out, but as soon as they win the ball, the men in red charge forward on the counter-attack. Too hot for Hoffenheim to handle.
62'

UNBELIEVABLE!

Mainz have done it again. Winning the ball in their own half they quickly break with Boetius powering the ball forward. A neat one-two with Onisiwo sets him away before he plays Kunde in on goal. The midfield stays calm and slots the ball under Baumann for his first-ever Bundesliga goal. Another goal on the break and Mainz can't believe it!
59'

WHAT A SAVE FROM ZENTNER

A cross into the box is headed towards his own goal by Kunde as we go close to another own goal, but Zentner produces a stunning save low to his left to keep the ball out. One of the very-best saves of the season so far.

AGAINST THE RUN OF PLAY

Hoffenheim had the first three shots of the second half, but it's Mainz who have scored without actually having a shot on goal themselves.
52'

THEY ALL COUNT!

And Mainz are in dreamland here with all the luck in the world to put them two goals ahead. St. Juste's cross goes through Baumann and Quaison challenging for it in the box and reaches Kaderabek at the back post. He goes to clear it with a volley from the floor, but the ball bounces up and deflects off his face and into his own net.

ANOTHER CHANCE FOR LOCADIA

The Dutchman will be bitterly disappointed to have not found the net there. He rises highest to meet Rudy's cross but can't keep his header on target from the middle of the box.

BACK UNDERWAY

The second half begins in Sinsheim and Andrej Kramaric is on in place of Kevin Apkoguma with the home side only having one thing in mind for this second half.

RED CARD!

Ridle Baku is sent off after a review by the video assistant. His challenge on Sebastian Rudy, which was late and saw him hit Rudy's ankle, deemed enough for a red card.

LOCADIA WITH A BIG CHANCE

Rudy's free-kick is perfectly whipped into the box and Locadia meets it to head the ball at goal, but he diverts the ball just wide instead. A chance for Hoffenheim to bring the score level, there...

BACK AND FORTH FIRST HALF

Both sides have had good spells here, Mainz have just made a goal out of their moment of pressure. Sometimes it is what you need to go ahead in a game when both sides are playing well. Hoffenheim won't be detured, but they will certainly want to get more shots going at Zentner's goal in the second half.

ÖZTUNALI PROVIDES SOME MAGIC

Mainz have a break with five or six players in attack. Baku has the ball 25 yards from goal and plays a poor pass to Onisiwo, who is able to control and keep the play alive. He lays it off to Öztunali, who skips past Skov into the penalty area before smashing the ball low across Baumann and into the far bottom corner. The first goal of the  Beierlorzer era!

FIRST ATTEMPT ON TARGET

Onisiwo holds off a defender to meet Martin's cross into the box with his head, but it's a simple one for Baumann to deal with. Mainz growing into the game again though.

LOOKING FOR INSPIRATION

Since Locadia's shot on goal in the opening minutes neither goalkeeper has had a save to make yet. Both sides have played confidently so far and are certainly looking to push the ball forward, but neither has been able to provide the cutting-edge needed to open up the other.

HOFFENHEIM ON TOP NOW

Now it's the turn of the home side to frustrate the visitors with prolonged possession. As they so often do, Hoffenheim are working the ball we around their defence but currently unable to break into the Mainz half.
14'

KUNDE CLEARS RUDY SHOT FROM THE LINE

A big chance for Hoffenheim to take the lead there after Zentner parried a cross away. Öztunali attempted to control it, but the ball ran loose again and ended up at the feet of Rudy who shot at goal from the edge of the box. The ball beat Zentner, but two defenders were perfectly placed on the line to clear it away, and the one who did the clearing was Kunde Malong.

MAINZ CONTROLLING THE POSSESSION

It's been a positive start by the visitors here who are happy to keep the ball for themselves and work their way into the game. Edmilson Fernandes is operating in the middle of a three-man defence and using his passing ability to their advantage. It's a free-flowing Mainz team so far.
8'

KADERABEK THIS TIME

Hoffenheim show a threat from their first set-piece of the game as Rudy's corner finds the head of the wing-back, but he can't keep his header on target. Neither side able to get their head in the game so far...

UNDERWAY IN HOFFENHEIM!

The ball is rolling for the final game of what has been a goal-happy weekend in the Bundesliga.

LOCADIA GOES CLOSE

The in-form Dutch striker - who scored the game-winning penalty against Cologne last time out - is played the ball in the Mainz box and goes for goal with a quick first-time shot, but Zentner stays big to parry it away. A lively start here in Hoffenheim.

NIAKHATE HEADS WIDE

The centre-back is up for a set-piece which is swung into the box from Martin. The Frenchman attempts to head the ball at goal, but it goes all wrong. Not the start he was looking for.

KICK-OFF FAST APPROACHING

We have players on the pitch and fans in the stands for the final game of Matchday 12 here in Sinsheim, the home of Hoffenheim.

NEW COACH IN CHARGE

Achim Beierlorzer is leading out his new team for the first time and as previously stated, is coming up against the team that he last faced for former club Cologne. He's had this week to work with his new squad and has a big task to get a result away from home against the Bundesliga's most in-form team right now.

HOFFENHEIM IN FINE FORM

The home side come into this game having won each of their last five Bundesliga games, including a win over new Mainz head coach Achim  Beierlorzer's former side Cologne.

DEFENSIVE CHANGES

Both sides have line-ups that we will have to wait and see in-game to be totally sure of. Kevin Vogt appears to be operating in holding midfield today, with three other central defenders behind him in the Hoffenheim defence. For Mainz, there's no genuine right-back involved which suggests a three-man defence.

HOFFENHEIM STARTING LINE-UP!

Baumann – Posch, Hübner, Akpoguma - Kaderabek, Rudy, Vogt (c), Grillitsch, Skov – Bebou, Locadia (SUBS:  Pentke, Brenet, Bicakcic, Stafylidis, Rupp, Baumgartner, Samsssekou, Zulj, Kramaric)

MAINZ STARTING LINE-UP!

Zentner - Baku, St. Juste, Niakhate (c), Martin - Fernandes, Kunde, Öztunali – Boetius – Onisiwo, Quaison (SUBS:  Müller, Latza, Maxim, Brosinski, Awoniyi, Szalai, Burkhardt, Barreiro, Hack)
