WONDER GOALS CANT SEPARATE US

Despite two stunning goals from Sebastian Rudy and Admir Mehmedi, the points are shared between Wolfsburg and Hoffenheim on the final evening of Matchday 5. The result leaves Wolfsburg in 8th, and Hoffenheim in 11th with five matches played. Neither team will be happy to only come away with a point after a host of chances for both sides throughout.

SKOV FIRES WIDE

Baumgartner goes on an incredible run down the right and crosses the ball to the back post where Skov is running onto the ball. He goes for goal after a gut-busting run of his own, but can only find the side-netting.

BIG SAVE FROM PERVAN

Adamyan breaks away after a mistake in midfield from Arnold. It's a two-on-one with Bebou in support and only Tisserdan in his way. He gets onto his right foot and smashes a shot at goal, but Pervan makes a great save to his left to keep it out.
86'

A NERVY HALF

Hoffenheim have had more shots (4-3) and just more possession (53%) than their hosts, but it's been a tight and nervous affair for both teams in this second half. Will we see a winner in the final minutes?
82'

GREAT EFFORT FROM BAUMGARTNER

After taking a corner, the ball is with Bebou at the near post of the Wolfsburg box. It runs loose and Baumgartner had followed his run into the box and meets the ball with a rasping shot across goal, but Pervan is able to tip it behind for another corner with a great save.

MEHMEDI GOES CLOSE

An incredible cross from Nmecha to the back post of the Hoffenheim box is perfectly met by Mehmedi. His header is looking for a teammate in the middle, but it's blocked by Posch. Nmecha making an immediate impact on the right wing.

LAST 20 MINUTES

Chances have been few and far between in this second half so far as we approach the business end of the game. We've had our first change with Belfodil - who wasn't fully fit coming into this game - being replaced by Sargis Adamyan. Plenty of time for someone to grab a win here...
62'

GOOO... NO!

The home side have the ball in the net once again, but this time Mehmedi is clearly offside as he tucks away William's cross. That's the second time Wolfsburg have had a goal ruled out tonight.
59'

GERHARDT AND ARNOLD GO CLOSE

Wolfsburg's captain curls what looked to be a cross into the box, but it forced Baumann into a save as it moved towards goal. The ball is cleared only as far as Gerhardt who goes for goal from 25 yards. His effort curls just over the Hoffenheim crossbar.
56'

BEBOU ALMOST CONNECTS

Geiger's corner is whipped in and darts across the face of goal with Bebou stretching to reach it at the back post. The winger just can't reach it though while unmarked from the set-piece.
55'

HOFFENHEIM STARTING WELL HERE

Wolfsburg have had a couple of half chances in this second half already, but the Hoffenheim defence has been good all night and has kept the Wolves at bay again in this second half. Now Schreuder's side are looking to make the most of their own possession.

KADERABEK SO CLOSE

The wing-back is almost in the perfect place to poke Hoffenheim into the lead again. He's stood at the back post as Skov's cross swings in. But Pervan is well-positioned as the Czech international meets the ball at the back post.

FANTASTIC FIRST HALF IN WOLFSBURG

Both sides attacking with incredible efforts on goal. Two of them went in with Rudy's ridiculous volley and Mehmedi's magical team goal with the help of Weghorst. Brekalo had the ball in the Hoffenheim net, but it was ruled out for offside. Pure attacking football at it's entertaining finest.

WHAT A HIT FROM SKOV

The left-back has absolutely smashed a shot from 25 yards out at goal. It hit the crossbar and bounces down, but hits the line before coming back out into play. We're seeing some fantastic efforts on goal here!
40'

GOOOO... NO!

Brekalo has the ball in the Hoffenheim net but it's pulled back for a handball. The Croatian won the ball back in a challenge with Hübner, but the ball was forced his way with his arm in play. He then slotted the ball past Baumann in style, but to no avail.

ANOTHER STUNNING GOAL!

We're being treated to some fantastic football here and it's another wonderful goal. Weghorst collects the ball on the edge of the box and is running from left to right. He spots the run of Mehmedi behind him somehow, and plays him the ball with a backheel. The Swiss forward takes the ball in his stride before smashing it past Baumann at the near-post with an unstoppable shot.

BIG SAVES FROM BAUMANN

William collects the ball from 25 yards out and has a go at goal. It stings the hands of Baumann and he can only parry the ball back into the middle of the box, but Gerhardt is there. He has to score, but can only find Baumann again...

WEGHORST VS. HÜBNER

This will be a fun battle to watch all night. The giant pair are already getting involved in plenty of aerial duels, but it's also Posch and Vogt having to do the dirty work on Weghorst, such is his size and talent.

GAME REALLY COMING ALIVE NOW

End-to-end game here in Wolfsburg with neither side sitting back when in possession. Attack is the first thought and it's paying off. If only every player could shoot at goal like Rudy did earlier...
23'

BIG CHANCE FOR WEGHORST!

The Dutchman brings the ball across the face of goal, trying to control it as it bounces up to his chest. It falls to his left foot and he has a go at goal but fires it over the bar as he leans back. Should have at least been on target there from Weghorst.
21'

BEBOU ON THE BREAK

The new man at Hoffenheim this season is sent in behind the Wolfsburg defence down the left wing. He has options around him but has his mind set on going for goal, but his shot finds the hands of Pervan.
21'

WOLFSBURG NOT SO SHARP IN FRONT OF GOAL

The home side have still not had a shot on target in this game and have been lacking that clinical edge in the opening stages here. Brekalo is getting on the ball plenty, but the Croatian hasn't always had the best touch. He and his side are still arming to this one...
13'

BRIGHT STARTS FROM BOTH SIDES

While Hoffenheim are ahead after Rudy's brilliant opener it's Wolfsburg who have had more of the ball so far. No chances on goal, but a couple of opportunities for Brekalo and Weghorst to attack the Hoffenheim defence. Up to know, they've handled the Wolves' attack well.
6'

WHAT A GOAL FROM RUDY!

Kaderbaek is forward in the Wolfsburg box and is on the end of a long ball forward. He heads it down to the edge of the box for Rudy, who steps up to the ball and hits a fantastic left-footed volley off the outside of his boot and into the far bottom corner. A stunning goal from the Hoffenheim legend.

SKOV AT LEFT-BACK

The 23-year-old winger is clearly capable of using his attacking qualities from the left-back position, as that is where he has started the game tonight.

THREE-MAN DEFENCE

No change in formation for the home side as Renato Steffen lines up on the left side - Jerome Roussillon's usual position.

UNDERWAY IN WOLFSBURG

The ball is rolling for the final game of Matchday 5...
Kick-off!

HOFFENHEIM WANT TO KICK START THE SEASON

The away side tonight have made a stuttering start to the season. Four points from four games, suffering two defeats, is not the ideal start and they will be looking to get three points this evening. Currently sat in 13th, a win could take them up to 10th in the table.

NAGELSMANN IN THE HOUSE

The former Hoffenheim coach is in attendance tonight to support his former club. The RB Leipzig coach spent two and a half years in charge of tonight's away side.

A DREAM START FOR THE WOLVES

Wolfsburg are undefeated after four games for the third time in their Bundesliga history. When they did it in 2008, they went on to win the league; in 2015 they ended up eighth. Where will they finish this season with Wout Weghorst leading the charge...

SKOV AND HÜBNER RETURN

The inclusions of Robert Skov and Benjamin Hübner are the only changes made for Hoffenheim. Ihlas Bebou, Ishak Belfodil and Skov all start in what is an attacking line-up from Alfred Schreuder. Sebastian Rudy makes his 200th Bundesliga appearance for Hoffenheim tonight, while captain Kevin Vogt will be looking to celebrate his 28th birthday with a win.

A CHANGE IN TACTICS FOR WOLFSBURG

The only surprise in Wolfsburg's line-up is that Jerome Roussillon is on the bench for Oliver Glasner's side. It's a first start of the season for Renato Steffen and could either see him employed in central midfield with a four-man defence behind him, or as the left midfielder in a 3-4-3 formation. We'll have to wait and see exactly how they line-up when the game begins.
