TEUCHERT AT THE DEATH!

INCREDIBLE! Cedric Teuchert has surely won it in the final minutes for Union here on the break. Dragovic's pass is intercepted and it's a fantastic long ball forward from Lenz which sends Teuchert in behind. He's right in front of Hradecky and his shot bounces off the goalkeeper, but bounces over the line nonetheless.

HRADECKY TO THE RESCUE

Tapsoba is being chased by Bülter with the ball bouncing towards his own goal and his attempted header back to goal is a weak one. Hradecky is off his line quickly, though, and beats Bülter to the loose ball.
81'

WATCH THE COUNTER

When they do get it, Union are sending the ball forward long with Bülter in attack using his fresh legs. Leverkusen will have to make sure they don't send all their bodies forward.
80'

ALL GOING ONE WAY

Union are camped inside their own half here and making life incredibly difficult for Leverkusen, who are dominating possession. It's proving increasingly difficult for Leverkusen to find a way through to create chances on Luthe's goal.
76'

FIRST CHANCE

It's been one of those nights for Awoniyi who has found it tough, and he's replaced by Bülter now.

MOMENT OF BRILLIANCE?

There are some tired legs out there now on both sides. Union have run hard all night, while this Leverkusen side was also in DFB Cup action during the week. Will we see a moment of brilliance or a mistake decide the game in the final quarter?
70'

DOUBLE CHANGE

Into the final 20 minutes we go and Peter Bosz makes his first changes. Aranguiz is back from injury and on for Baumgartlinger, while Alario is on in place of Schick in attack.

HERE COME UNION

The home side showing their second wind here as we enter the final 20 minutes in the capital.
64'

NOT FAR AWAY!

Union break again and it's Andrich who gathers the switch of play on the right. He spots Trimmel racing forward inside him and finds him with a lay-off, but the Union captain fires his shot low and wide across goal. Chances coming thick and fast here.
63'

SCHICK ON TARGET!

A lovely long ball from Demirbay catches out the Union defence and Schick latches onto it. He shoots at goal but Luthe is able to beat that one away again. Leverkusen just struggling to make Luthe work hard enough.

ON THE BREAK!

Union go close again through Teuchert with three men breaking behind Leverkusen's backline. Ingvartsen plays the ball to his right and Teuchert hits it first-time from 12 yards but drags his effort across goal.
58'

DIABY HAS A GO!

Bailey's corner meets Diaby on the run in front of goal and he goes for a volley on his left. It's awkward for him as he has to stop and meet the ball coming towards him at speed. He slices that shot away.
56'

HIGH INTENSITY

The ball has not stopped moving so far in this second half, and neither have all 20 outfield players on the pitch. It's end-to-end stuff and chances are being produced at both ends. All we're missing is an opening goal.
52'

FRIEDRICH BOOKED

A yellow card now for Union with Friedrich bringing down Diaby on the break.
51'

SOMEHOW NO GOAL - AGAIN!

Union break away and it's almost a sucker-punch to go ahead. Prömel plays a lovely ball in behind the Leverkusen defence across from the right for Teuchert and he gets away from Tah to fire across goal with his left. He beats Hradecky but the ball bounces off the inside of the post, across the goalline and away off the other post. Can't get much closer than that.
50'

STARTING WELL AGAIN

It's Leverkusen who are starting this half the better of the two sides, as they did the first. So far, no major chances to speak of though.
46'

BAILEY FEELING IT

You can see the Jamaican is playing full of confidence here, as he skips past Trimmel with his first touch of the half. If Leverkusen are to get themselves a goal this evening, you get the feeling it will involve him.
46'

BACK UNDERWAY!

The home side get the ball rolling again in Berlin for the second half.

ALL LEVERKUSEN

The away side ending this half on top and it's Baumgartlinger now who has a big chance. Schick plays the ball to the midfielder on the edge of the box and his shot is well-hit and on target, but Luthe beats the ball away behind a host of bodies in front of him. Diaby then handles the rebound to relieve the pressure.
38'

BRILLIANT BAILEY!

Superb work from the winger as he skins Lenz on the byline with a nutmeg and plays the ball in front of goal. Baumgartlinger lets it run to Amiri, but his shot is blocked by Luthe and his defence.. Another shot moments later drags wide of goal as Leverkusen continue to pile forward.
camera-photo

THAT FRIEDRICH CHANCE

Yeah, that's right... This header from Marvin Friedrich went wide.
33'

JUST THE LAST PASS

Leverkusen are doing everything right up to the last pass in the final third. So far, it's mainly been Diaby involved in playing the final ball. Schick and Bailey will be wanting to make a more positive impact when they get the chance.
32'

DIABY ON THE RUN

A pass forward from the back beats the Union press and sends Diaby racing at the home side's defence. He skips past one before shooting from 20 yards and the ball is blocked behind.

MADE TO STAY PATIENT

Union are pressing well in their own half here, making life difficult for Leverkusen when they do send the ball forward from the safety of their defensive line. It's been a confident start from the away side, though, who've looked brighter than their hosts.
24'

EARLY CHANGE

It's Teuchert who comes on for Becker here in the first half for Union, joining Awoniyi in attack.

BECKER COMING OFF

The Dutchman was down after a challenge with Tapsoba and has signalled that he'll have to come off.
20'

BECKER DOWN

The winger has gone down off the ball here. Looks to be his left foot that is injured in some way. Could be a big loss for Union if he has to go off, with Bülter getting warm.
17'

BIG CHANCE!

Diaby reaches the byline before cutting the ball back into the box. Schick leaps to meet it but can't get high enough to then angle the ball down at goal. Meanwhile, Demirbay is right behind him looking to meet the cross but instead clatters into his teammate, sending him down in pain. Schick now up again and can continue.
16'

SHOULD BE 1-0!

Well, you won't see another miss like this all weekend long. Union's first corner of the game is a dream from Trimmel, curling right in front of goal for Friedrich to attack. He's all alone to meet it, but angles his body the wrong way and can't get his effort on target. He looks in disbelief that he's not scored from six yards out there.
14'

DEMIRBAY GOES CLOSE!

A ball sent into the Union penalty area from the right intended for Demirbay is hit wide by the midfielder on the run, and he complains of a push in the back as he struck the ball. Referee tonight, Benjamin Brand, is having none of it.

MIX UP IN ATTACK!

The ball runs loose towards Bailey in the box but he and Schick both go for the same ball at the same time and in the end, neither gets a foot to it. Leverkusen continuing to build some early pressure.
9'

GETTING STARTED

Union getting on the ball themselves now but in coming out of their defensive shape, Leverkusen are looking for the counter-attacks with Diaby, Bailey and Schick in attack. One to watch for the rest of this evening.
5'

EARLY SWAGGER

Union have barely touched the ball here early on, with a long ball sending Diaby in down the right and Schick is only denied a chance in front of goal by Friedrich's sliding block.
3'

PROMISING START

The away side having a bright start with Bailey and Schick on the ball early. Nice build-up play leads to a cross cleared as far as Amiri, and his volley loops over Luthe and the Union net from 20 yards.

HERE WE GO!

The ball is rolling in the German capital with the away side getting us underway.
Kick-off!

FAST START?

Union have scored the most goals of any team in the opening 15 minutes of games this season (8), followed closest by Leverkusen (7).

KICK-OFF COMING!

We're 10 minutes from getting Matchday 16 underway in the capital with a battle between 5th and 3rd in the league getting this underway. It's Union - who can go 4th with a win tonight - against Leverkusen - who can go into 2nd overnight.

TWO CLINICAL CLUBS

Union have required an average of six shots per goal this season; Leverkusen have taken seven, with only Bayern Munich requiring fewer (five) so far in the campaign.

ROCKING FOR ROBERT

Union midfielder Robert Andrich has been on fire for Union in recent weeks. In fact, the central midfielder has scored in each of his last four home games in the Bundesliga, the last of which being a sumptuous free-kick against Wolfsburg.

BAYER BACK FOR MORE?

Leverkusen claimed their first win of 2021 in their midweek DFB Cup second round win over Frankfurt, while Bayer are on a three-match winless run in the Bundesliga. Leverkusen also claimed two wins over Union last season, winning 3-2 in Berlin after a last-minute winner from Karim Bellarabi - who misses out tonight with a hand injury.

UNION BRINGING UP 50 IN FORM

Union are on the second-longest unbeaten run of their Bundesliga history (five) and have lost just twice in their 15 league games so far this season. This will be the capital club's 50th Bundesliga game. Their record through 49 games so far reads 18 wins, 12 draws, 19 defeats - claiming 66 points in total.

LEVERKUSEN TEAM NEWS

Lars Bender returned and played 89 minutes in Leverkusen's midweek DFB Cup win over Frankfurt, but the captain is rested with Dragovic in at right-back with new signing Fosu-Mensah having yet to train with the team.
