FRANKFURT HAVE DONE IT!

What a performance by Frankfurt. That second-half Lewandowski goal looked to have turned the tide, but the Eagles dug in to grind out a fine win. They remain in the top four, while Bayern's lead at the summit could be cut to two points if Leipzig beat Hertha on Sunday.

NEUER!

World-class from Neuer. Kostic does everything right, narrowing low and hard towards the bottom corner, but the Bayern captain is equal to it. That could be huge!
90'

ALL BAYERN

Sane makes way for Martinez. Strange one, considering Sane's been Bayern's most effective player this second half. That said, Martinez gives Frankfurt a big physical presence in the final third.
83'

FRESH BAYERN LEGS

Hernandez is on at left-back, with Davies shifting into attack. Musiala's also on, the teenager hoping to use his quick feet to open up the Frankfurt rearguard in the closing stages.
82'

NOT GIVEN

Ache goes down in the Bayern box. There's clear contact, but was he already going down? The referee certainly thinks so. Those Frankfurt changes have had the desired effect, in any case. Bayern nowhere near as dominant.

WIDE FROM COMAN!

Golden chance for Bayern! Sane drives forward and whips a ball right across the face of goal. Coman meets it first time at the back post, but can't direct his attempt on target. Everything is going through Sane right now...
69'

JOVIC DOWN

Süle and Jovic clash heads. Both go to ground, but Jovic stays down after taking the full force of Süle's bonce. He can't continue - Ragnar Ache is on, as is Stefan Ilsanker. Fresh Frankfurt legs very much needed.

GORETZKA!

Not far away at all from Goretzka, who heads a Coman cross wide. His late bursts into the box are causing Frankfurt real problems.
53'

LEWANDOWSKI!

Bayern are back in it! Lewandowski applies the finish with a neat flick from close range, but the goal's all about Sane. He led the Frankfurt defence on a merry dance in the build-up, taking out three players before putting the ball exactly where Lewandowski wanted it.

FRANKFURT 2-0 BAYERN

Well, well, well. Frankfurt look very good value for their lead, with Kamada and Younes the scorers. What can an injury-hit Bayern muster in the second half?

SANE ON THE PROWL

Sane tries to go on the outside of Hasebe, but the Frankfurt defender stands his ground and blocks for a corner. The set-piece comes to nothing.

NEUER!!!

Almost a third Frankfurt goal. Kostic feeds Younes, who twists and turns before releasing the ball for the overlapping Toure. He hits it well, but Neuer gets down well at his near post to save. Huge let-off for the league leaders...
45'

WIDE FROM EMCM

Better from Bayern as Sane reaches the byline, and cuts back for Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting. He's got his back to goal, but still gets off a decent effort on the turn. Wide!
42'

A WHISKER AWAY

Frankfurt look capable of scoring whenever they venture forward. Kostic whips in a trademark teasing ball - Boateng gets a touch, and the ball goes just wide.
41'

TRAPP AGAIN

Kimmich forces Trapp into a fine save with a stinging low drive. Coman's first to the follow-up, but Trapp's there again to block. Lewandowski takes the loose ball down, before dragging wide on the turn. Positive signs here from Bayern...
40'

ROAD RUNNER

The break is on for Frankfurt as Kamada launches a long ball into the Bayern half. Toure's on the chase, but there's no beating Davies in a foot race. The Frankfurt man gives the Canadian a shoulder, and is penalised. That's one way of flooring him. Davies has set a season-best speed record already this game - 36kmph.
36'

TIGHT AT THE TOP

If Bayern lose today, second-placed Leipzig can close the gap to just two points with victory against Hertha Berlin on Sunday. Who said the title race was over...?
34'

TRAPP HEROICS

Superb from Kevin Trapp to preserve Frankfurt's 2-0 advantage. Kimmich slides a cute pass to Coman, whose cross-shot from the right takes a wicked deflection off Hinteregger. It's dropping under the bar, but Trapp throws up a hand to claw it behind. Lewandowski heads the ensuing corner wide from a unmarked position.
31'

YOUNES!!!!!!

It's happening, it's really happening! Frankfurt switch the play really well again, from left to right and back again. Kamada keeps an over-hit ball in play, and steers a ball into the feet of Younes in the Bayern box. He stands up Süle before swerving an unstoppable effort away from the despairing dive of Neuer and into the far corner. Frankfurt lead Bayern 2-0!

FRANKFURT ON FIRE

NOTHING NEW

Bayern have a habit of conceding the opening goal, so won't be overly concerned. They came from 2-0 down to draw 3-3 with Bielefeld on Monday, and won from losing positions against the likes of Dortmund, Stuttgart, Wolfsburg and Leverkusen earlier in the campaign.

RIGHT IDEA

Bayern can't live with Kostic. He's away down the left and whips into the danger zone, with Frankfurt players queuing up. The ball drops for Toure, who drags wide from 18 yards.

OUTRAGEOUS FROM YOUNES!

The Eagles have their tails up and then some! They're in again, but a last-gasp intervention spares their blushes at the expense of a corner. It comes to nothing as Sane breaks, before having his pockets picked in the Frankfurt area. The next thing Younes is shooting from inside his own half. Neuer back-tracks - he's not getting there - but the ball drops just wide of the post. Stunning effort.
13'

FRANKFURT LEAD THE CHAMPIONS!

Bayern are behind. They're slow to react to a short throw-in out on the left. Younes doubles back and plays a sweet reverse ball into the channel for Kostic. The cross is a peach, and Kamada tucks it away from around the penalty spot. Even if he missed his kick, Jovic was waiting. Dream start for the Bundesliga's form side!

PLAY RESUMES

LINESMAN DOWN!

There's a stoppage in Frankfurt, after linesman Mike Pickel pulls up lame. Looks like an ankle problem - he can't continue.
4'

YOUNES!

Golden chance or Frankfurt! The press works a treat, and suddenly Kamada's in behind. He cuts it back for Younes, but the Napoli loanee dallies and his eventual shot from inside the area is charged down by Alaba. If only he'd hit that sooner...
3'

OVER FROM SANE

Bayern make in-roads in the Frankfurt half, with Lewandowski doing really well to hold off Hinteregger. He shifts the ball back for Sane, who balloons over from just inside the opposition area.

THE THREADS

Frankfurt are in their dapper red-and-black home number. Bayern are in their change white-grey combo with pale orange trim.
Kick-off!

FORM

Frankfurt are on the longest unbeaten run of any Bundesliga team (10 matches). They've claimed a league-high 26 points from a possible 30 during that run. Twenty-two from 24 points in 2021 is another league best-mark, ahead of Bayern (19).

NO SILVA-LEWY SHOWDOWN

It's just as well Adi Hütter can call on a player of Jovic's ilk. Silva has been in electric form this season, scoring a career-best 18 goals, including a league-high nine this calendar year. The Portugal international has had a direct hand in 20 of Frankfurt’s 43 goals, and averages a goal every 110 minutes over his 45 Bundesliga appearances. Only Robert Lewandowski has hit more this term: 25 in 20 games.

MORE ON JOVIC

Jovic makes his first Bundesliga start since the final day of the 2018/19 season. The opponents were Bayern Munich, the result a 5-1 defeat that sealed the title for the record champions and denied Eintracht UEFA Champions League football. The Serb made an emphatic return to the club where he made his name on Bundesliga Matchday 16 of the current campaign, though, scoring twice from the bench in a 3-1 win over Schalke. That's as many as he managed across 21 La Liga appearances after leaving Frankfurt for parent club Real Madrid in summer 2019. The 23-year-old was also on target in a 5-1 rout of Arminia Bielefeld, taking his tally to 28 goals in 60 Bundesliga appearances.

NO SILVA FOR FRANKFURT

Andre Silva misses out altogether after suffering a back injury in training in midweek. Real Madrid loanee Luka Jovic is his replacement, the Serbia striker making his first start since returning to Frankfurt on loan in January. Former Bayern midfielder Sebastian Rode deputises for the suspended Djibril Sow in midfield, while Almamy Toure replaces the injured Erik Durm on the right-hand side.

BAYERN PERSONNEL CONCERNS

Bayern welcome back midfielders Leon Goretzka and Javi Martinez to the bench, but Serge Gnabry, Thomas Müller, Benjamin Pavard, Corentin Tolisso and Douglas Costa are among the players on the sidelines. Jerome Boateng does return in defence, though, while Marc Roca is preferred in midfield alongside Joshua Kimmich. Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting continues in the Müller role.
