ALL HANDS ON DECK
Niklas Lomb is currently the only player not in the Augsburg half. But no red shirt was in the middle as Frimpong delivered a tasty cross into the box.

FINAL 10
Leverkusen are upping the pace in search of an equaliser, but it's not the full-on onslaught you'd expect just yet.

FRIMPONG!
Demirbay's dipping free-kick into the box isn't dealt with by the Augsburg defence. The ball comes out to Frimpong on the right of the box, sits up nicely and he hits it on the half volley, but it's well over from the January signing from Celtic.

VARGAS AT THE FRONT POST
Leverkusen make an attacking change but it's Augsburg who immediately go forward with a cross into the box finding Vargas at the near post. He gets a back heel to it but it's within reach of Lomb.

BAYER GETTING CLOSER
Diaby with a teasing low cross into the six-yard box. It goes under the outstretched arm of Gikiewicz but there are no red shirts in there to take advantage.

WENDELL!
Leverkusen finally force a save out of Gikiewicz in the Augsburg goal as Wendell drives an effort across the face of goal. The Polish goalkeeper gets both hands to it, though.

AUGSBURG COMFORTABLE
A goal inside five minutes gave Augsburg an early advantage. You would've expected a Leverkusen onslaught to follow but it's been pretty comfortable for the home side, who take a lead into half-time for the first time since Matchday 11 against Schalke.

GOOD FEET
Niederlechner shows he's more than just a poacher as he runs Fosu-Mensah ragged with a number of twists and turns. He then looks to put the ball into the middle but only picks out Lomb.
42'
SCHICK DENIED
A ball over from the right evades everyone until Patrik Schick dead centre around 10 yards out. It looks like being a simple tap-in until Framberger nips in to take all the sting off the shot as it goes through to Gikiewicz.
40'
CALIGIURI OVER
He's scored a few free-kicks in his time but this was a bit of a waste from Caligiuri. It's floated over the wall with minimal power but also high and wide of the goal.
39'
PEDERSEN TRIPPED
A third caution of the campaign for Leverkusen captain Aranguiz as he takes down Pedersen before he can get into the penalty area. Another free-kick in a dangerous position just to the left of the D.
33'
BENES OVER
Winter signing Laszlo Benes is the man to take with his left foot, but curls his effort over the crossbar.
32'
FIRST CARD
Tapsoba brings down Caligiuri with a flailing arm 20 yards out. A long ball again causing issues in the Leverkusen defence. Free-kick in a dangerous position for Augsburg...
27'
NIEDERLECHNER HITS IT
A long punt forward by Gikiewicz and Niederlechner gets the better of Bender in a duel. The striker is then in on goal with Tapsoba racing to catch him, hits it from right of centre 18 yards out, but well over. A let-off for Leverkusen.
25'
OFFSIDE
A rare foray forward by the home side as Caligiuri runs in behind onto a through ball, but the Italian had gone a fraction too early.
23'
BENDER OVER
A second attempt for Leverkusen but again it's off target as a ball drops to Sven Bender after a long free-kick into the box, but the centre-back blasts well over.

HALFWAY PRESS
In stark contrast to Leverkusen's high pressing approach, Augsburg are happy to sit back and wait until Bayer get to the halfway line before beginning their press. Only Niederlechner is breaking that line, which earned him the opening goal.

OH DEAR LOMB
Niklas Lomb's dream first Bundesliga start has turned into a nightmare inside only five minutes. Augsburg's counter-attack is cut out by Fosu-Mensah and passed back to the Leverkusen goalkeeper, who takes a touch but then nudges the ball with his standing foot and allows Niederlechner the simplest of tap-ins.

WHICH FORM WILL GIVE?
Augsburg have won only one of their last eight Bundesliga games at home, losing twice as many matches here this season as they’ve won (W3, L6). However, Leverkusen arrive at the WWK-Arena on the back of three straight away defeats in the league, having won each of their first five in 2020/21. The last time Bayer lost four away games in a row in the Bundesliga was 11 years ago under Jupp Heynckes.

TEAM NEWS
It’s six changes for Leverkusen after their 4-3 loss away at Young Boys in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday. Peter Bosz has selected an entirely new back four as Jeremie Frimpong, Jonathan Tah, Aleksandar Dragovic and Daley Sinkgraven all drop to the bench. Captain Charles Aranguiz returns in place of Nadiem Amiri in midfield, while Moussa Diaby replaces Demarai Gray out wide. First-choice goalkeeper Lukas Hradecky is out with a heel injury, so 27-year-old Niklas Lomb makes only his second Bundesliga appearance and his first start.
TEAM NEWS
Heiko Herrlich makes five changes to his side - the most this season - as Augsburg seek to end a three-match losing run. Raphael Framberger makes his first appearance since December after a torn muscle, while Felix Uduokhai returns in a back four after missing last Friday’s defeat at Leipzig. Rani Khedira replaces Carlos Gruezo in midfield, Ruben Vargas comes in on the left wing and Florian Niederlechner starts up top in place of Andre Hahn, who after six straight starts has to wait for his 200th Bundesliga appearance.
