GORETZKA COMPLETES THE COMEBACK!

The former Schalke midfielder may just have stolen all three points for Bayern to complete an incredible comeback. Meunier's clearance falls to him on the edge and it's a miss-hit volley, but it bounces beyond the reach of Hitz to nestle in the bottom corner.

BAYERN NOT ON TOP, FOR NOW...

As we've mentioned, the defending champions have dropped off the top of the table for now after Leipzig's win earlier. Bayern are the league’s 67-goal top scorers, though, and it’s over a year since they failed to fire in the Bundesliga (0-0 against RB Leipzig on 9 February 2020).

GORETZKA EXCLUSIVE!

bundesliga.com sat down with Leon Goretzka this week to discuss the Bayern Munich midfielder's role in the team, Bayern's winning mentality and his thought on tonight's Klassiker.

KIMMICH ON DER KLASSIKER

"Games against Dortmund are always special. Since I've been here, they've always been our fiercest rivals. We're ahead of them in the table, but Dortmund have the quality to compete at the top. That's why mentality might make the difference in the end, so we have to show we really want it."

HAALAND ON LEWANDOWSKI

Dortmund's No.9 has his say on his opposite number as two of world football's top strikers go head-to-head for third time ever in the Bundesliga. "Bayern are a fantastic team, but Lewandowski is crazy. Whenever I score, I think 'I'm one goal closer to him'. Then he goes and scores a hat-trick. What he's doing is mad. I can learn a lot from him."

GOAL GUARANTEES

Bayern are the league’s 67-goal top scorers. It’s over a year since they failed to fire in the Bundesliga (0-0 against RB Leipzig on 9 February 2020).

TIME FOR A DIFFERENT RESULT?

Dortmund are looking to do something they have not managed since the season they last won the title, in 2012/13, and win at the Allianz Arena. BVB have lost their last six league games in Munich.

WATCH: DORTMUND 2-3 BAYERN - REVERSE FIXTURE

Of course, this is not the first Klassiker meeting of the campaign. Bayern came out 3-2 winners over Dortmund earlier in the season in a five-goal thriller at the Signal Iduna Park.

BAYERN TEAM NEWS

Gnabry, who marked his return from injury with a late brace, is on the bench once again with Sane preferred on the right-hand side of the attack, while Coman replaces 18-year-old Musiala on the opposite flank. Süle continues at right-back, with Pavard having only returned to training in midweek following illness.

BVB TEAM NEWS

Interim coach Terzic will have been delighted to beaten Gladbach in the DFB Cup inside 90 minutes, but it came at the cost of in-form Sancho as well as Guerreiro - the pair having come away with muscular complaints. Germany left-back Schulz fills the Guerreiro void, while Hazard comes into the front three behind Haaland. With Witsel still out, Dahoud joins Delaney in the centre of midfield.

FLICK: “WE NEED TO BE IN THE FIGHT RIGHT FROM THE START”

“We’re at the top of the table and we want to stay there,” said Bayern coach Flick at his media briefing before the game. “We want to beat Dortmund and that’s the approach we’re taking into it. “Everyone is highly motivated against one of the top teams in Germany. We’ll need to be at our best, and be in the fight right from the start.”

TERZIC: “WE WANT TO PLAY WITH COURAGE AND TOGETHERNESS”

“We’ll need to be wide awake from the off,” said Terzic at his pre-match press conference. “If we lose possession in the middle they can score right away. They’ve also been dangerous from set-pieces against us, so we’ll need to be careful there. There will be things we can’t prevent from happening, but we’ll need to show a good reaction. The most important thing is that we do things they can’t precent from happening. We want to play with courage and togetherness out on the pitch in Munich.”

WATCH: LEWANDOWSKI AND HAALAND, CONTRASTING CAREERS

Robert Lewandowski and Erling Haaland - two of the games deadliest strikers about to go head-to-head.

FORM - BAYERN

Hansi Flick's men haven't been at their best in terms of dominating games of late, but they've still been picking up results. Since losing back-to-back games in January - to Gladbach in the league and Kiel in the cup - Bayern have won nine of their subsequent 11 competitive fixtures (including winning the FIFA Club World Cup), drawing one and losing one - to Eintracht Frankfurt on Matchday 22.

FORM - DORTMUND

Edin Terzic's men come into this game in good shape and they are unbeaten in their last five games in all competitions, a run that has included four wins. That includes a Champions League triumph away to Sevilla and a victory away to Gladbach in the DFB Cup quarter-finals on Tuesday. BVB defeated Arminia Bielefeld 3-0 last week in the Bundesliga, a result that kept them in fifth place, 13 points behind Bayern.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

Bayern have the edge historically, having won 49 of the 103 Bundesliga meetings between these sides. Dortmund have triumphed just 25 times, while there have been 29 draws. The Reds have won each of the last four league matches against BVB, scoring 13 and conceding just two in that period. Bayern have won each of their last six Klassiker games in Munich.

DEPLETED DORTMUND

We'll have the confirmed line-ups a bit nearer kick-off, but we already know that Dortmund are without several key players for this one. Axel Witsel would normally start in central midfield, but he remains sidelined with an Achilles injury, while centre-back Manuel Akanji is out with a muscle tear. Not only that, but the club confirmed that Jadon Sancho, Gio Reyna and Raphael Guerreiro are unavailable due to minor injuries. The absence of Sancho, in particular, is a big blow, as the Englishman has six goals and three assists in last eight competitive outings.
