The Bielefeld goalkeeper has had the most touches of any player for his team this season, and he shows again how assured he can be, coming out to the edge of the box to intercept, pulling his hands away just in time, before playing a brilliant through ball up to Klos to try and start a counter.

But this match can also have huge ramifications in the relegation battle. Mainz’s resurgent form and win over Freiburg yesterday means Arminia have now slipped into the bottom two after a run of seven games without a win, producing just two draws. Only victory today would see last season’s Bundesliga 2 champions move out of the automatic drop zone and above Mainz and Hertha. It would, though, mean winning away from home for only the second time this season. Their sole win on the road so far came at bottom side Schalke.

Bayer Leverkusen won’t need reminding that their recent form has been less than impressive, but they are still on the cusp of the top four. Although Dortmund now sit between them and Frankfurt in that last UEFA Champions League spot, a win today would see them leapfrog both – ahead of Eintracht’s game in Leipzig after this. After elimination from the DFB Cup and UEFA Europa League in February, that top-four finish is now the sole objective for Die Werkself.
