BVB have one of the best home records in the Bundesliga this season with 27 points from 11 games so far. That haul stems from nine wins and two defeats, while they're averaging three goals per game on their own patch. Gladbach, by contrast, have struggled on the road this term, winning just twice in 11 matches. They've also drawn three and lost six, and are averaging nearly two goals against per game.

BVB boss Marco Rose has made three changes to his team in the wake of the defeat to Rangers during the week. Akanji is out with injury, while Brandt and Witsel drop to the bench. In come Can, Hazard and Reyna, the latter making his first start in 177 days (since 27 August last year).

Adi Hütter has named an unchanged side following last week's 3-2 win over Augsburg, making it a third consecutive game with the same starting XI. It's the first time in almost three years that that has happened with Gladbach.

Erling Haaland, Manuel Akanji and Thomas Meunier have all been ruled out of today's game, leaving significant gaps in the BVB team. Who will replace them? It's likely that Emre Can will drop in at right-back in place of Meunier, with Zagadou continuing in defence for Akanji. There's no like-for-like replacement for Haaland, so the load is set to be shared across Marco Reus, Julian Brandt and Donyell Malen up front.

Gladbach are somewhat on the up after a win and a draw in their last two games ended a run of four straight losses in all competitions. Foals coach Adi Hütter said his side will head to the Signal Iduna Park with cautious optimism of extending their positive sequence. "We are still shipping too many goals, but we mustn’t forget that we put in a good performance in a difficult situation against Augsburg (3-2),” the visiting coach said. “BVB have a lot of strengths, but also weaknesses. We will try to come up with a good game plan in order to pick up points in Dortmund."

For Dortmund coach Marco Rose, the challenge is to lift morale following Thursday's reverse against Rangers in the Europa League. "We sat down together yesterday, and it went on a bit longer than usual," the BVB tactician said of his team talk after the 4-2 loss. "We want to put in a transformed performance," Rose said ahead of Gladbach's visit, adding, "It's a home game that we definitely want to win."
