BAYERN WIN THE 2021 SUPERCUP

Nagelsmann gets his first win as Bayern coach, and first piece of silverware. Dortmund had their chances, but the record champions have Lewandowski. He broke the deadlock late in the first half, and added a third just when BVB were looking like they might push on after Reus had reduced the arrears. Müller was also on the scoresheet to help the holders claim a record-extending ninth Supercup.

HAALAND!

Dahoud wins possession and curls another clever pass into the feet of Haaland in the Bayern box. He holds off Süle, but is off balance and can only find the side netting.

CHANCE WASTED

Tolisso takes advantage of tired Dortmund legs to poke a ball through to Gnabry, but he doesn't catch it right from six yards. Let-off for Dortmund as the fourth official's board signals four minutes of time added on.

FRESH LEGS

Lewandowksi won't get his hat-trick - he's replaced by Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting. Bouna Sarr's also on for Bayern, in place of Josip Stanisic, who's delivered once again at right-back. Reinier Jesus and Marius Wolf join the action for Dortmund.

Sane is cautioned after catching Malen very late, right in front of the Dortmund dugout. Rose's fuming...
79'

PASALIC DEBUT

Marco Pasalic makes his senior debut, the 20-year-old Croatian-German attacker replacing Gio Reyna. He's registered two goals and an assist in three 3. Liga appearances for the Dortmund reserves so far this season.
75'

LEWY AT THE DOUBLE!

Bayern restore their two-goal lead, with a massive helping hand from Akanji. His touch out from the back is heavy and telegraphed by Corentin Tolisso, who's been on the pitch less than a minute. The ball falls kindly for Lewandowski in the box, and he has all the time in the world to pick his spot. Lovely finish to Kobel's left - the Supercup's staying in Munich as things stand...
72'

WIDE FROM LEWY

Goretzka bursts into Dortmund territory, carving out a shooting opportunity for Lewandowski. Surrounded by Dortmund shirts and with Sane covered to his right, he pings an 18-yard strike across goal and wide.

HALF CHANCE

Reus clips a free-kick into the six-yard box. Haaland sticks out his left boot, but can't get a toe to it, and Neuer claims.
68'

TWELFTH MAN

That goal has given Dortmund a real lift. After it went in, the players were gesturing towards the fans to turn up the decibel levels. They've responded in kind - Bayern are under the cosh.
65'

DORTMUND HIT BACK!

The Dortmund fans are on their feet! Akanji arrows a long ball towards the right-hand side of the Bayern box, where Passlack nods it back to Bellingham on the edge of the area. He helps it on to Reus, who whips a stunning first-time effort beyond the despairing dive of Neuer. Sensational technique. Game on!

CHANCE!

Haaland shrugs off his marker in the Bayern box. On his weaker right side and with the angle tight, he opts to play in a teammate, but his cut-back is just behind Malen. All it needed was a touch goalwards...

MALEN ON

Marco Rose turns to summer signing Donyell Malen, with little over 30 minutes of normal time remaining. Teenaged striker Moukoko makes way following an industrious shift, including a disallowed goal. What an experience for the 16-year-old. Only in the Bundesliga!

HAALAND GOAL RULED OUT

Superb Dortmund goal as Mo Dahoud uses the outside of his right boot to ping a stunning ball in-between Bayern's two centre-backs, and into the feet of Haaland. The BVB goal machine holds of the back-tracking white shirts and bends a superb finish past Neuer, but the flag's up. It won't count - he was a a fraction offside when he started his run.

BAYERN DOUBLE THEIR LEAD!

Dortmund are caught out in the right-back position again. Davies is played in behind Passlack, and fires a ball across goal towards Lewandowski. He selflessly flicks it on, with Müller applying the finishing touch from close range. Mountain to climb for BVB now...

SANE AT THE READY

Leroy Sane looks like he's about to come on for Kingsley Coman, who's moving a touch gingerly. Yup, the replay shows his right boot got stuck in the turf as he set off on a run just now.

BAYERN LEAD AT THE BREAK!

Robert Lewandowski's late goal is the difference at half-time in Dortmund. It's been a captivating encounter, with Manuel Neuer making two big saves, Kingsley Coman missing a sitter and Youssoufa Moukoko having a goal ruled out, before Bayern forged ahead. Safe to say you do not want to miss the second 45.

LEWANDOWSKI!!!!!!

Bayern draw first blood in the Supercup! Passlack's caught out as Goretzka threads a cute ball through for Gnabry. He whips his left-wing cross towards the edge of the six-yard box, where Lewandowski arrives from deep to power an unstoppable header past Kobel. Strikers around the world, no matter what level, watch that over and over again, and learn. Lewandowski was well outside the Dortmund box when that move started. Goalscorer's instinct at its finest.
40'

NEUER MAKES THE STOP

Outrageous from Haaland, who controls a peach of a long ball from Akanji, on his right foot, whilst running full tilt. Not even Davies can stop him, but Neuer is out to make the block.

MOUKOKO GOAL RULED OUT!

Moukoko bends a lovely finish beyond Neuer from inside the box, but he was yards offside when Haaland played the pass. No need to consult the VAR for that one.
35'

DENIED!

Dahoud concedes a free-kick for a meaty challenge on Coman. Kimmich bamboozles the Dortmund defence with a reverse pass into the patch of Müller, who pulls away from the BVB wall. His shot's blocked by Haaland - Lewandowski's follow-up finds the hand of Witsel in front of the goal-line. Bayern want a penalty, not that there was anything Witsel could do about it. Müller's flagged for offside, in any case.
31'

MOUKOKO!

Moukoko collects a pass from Reus and takes aim, but hits his shot straight at Neuer in the Bayern goal. It's been a tough introduction to the Supercup for the 16-year-old talent...

DAYOT STRONG, ERLING STRONGER

Passlack plays a low ball into the path of Haaland in the Bayern half. Upamecano races across with a shoulder barge that usually floors opposition forwards - not Haaland. He stays on his feet, and proceeds to ping over a cross that's hooked away.
26'

CLUMSY

Reus goes into the book after catching Upamecano with a studs-up challenge. He really can't complain about that.
24'

OFF TARGET

Niklas Süle's penalised for a robust challenge on Erling Haaland that measures 5.5 on the Richter Scale. It's just left of centre, and roughly 25 yards out, but Reus can't find the target with his free-kick.
20'

SUPER MANUUUUUUUUU!

What. A. Save. Upamecano can only half clear after Moukoko attempted to thread through Haaland. A quick turnover sees Jude Bellingham collect and send Reus one-on-one with the advancing Neuer. The BVB captain aims low, but the world's finest custodian sticks out a go-go-gadget leg and makes the stop with his right boot.
camera-photo
16'

COMAN!

Bayern should be ahead. Passlack is caught out by Gnabry, who only has eyes for Coman. The Frenchman can't be much more than six yards out and is pretty central, but slips as he goes to shoot and skies it. The Bayern bench were all on their feet...
15'

AKANJI STANDS FIRM

Akanji's at it again, getting in the way of a Gnabry attempt on goal. Ominous start from Bayern.
13'

END-TO-END STUFF

Somre start in Dortmund. Passlack scampers in behind Davies, the BVB right-back winning a throw he plays quickly to Jude Bellingham. He doesn't quite catch his cross, though, allowing Bayern to break. A cute back-heel sends Müller away, but Manuel Akanji makes a fine recovery challenge.
10'

MOUKOKO ON THE RUN

Dortmund power forward as they did to such devastating effect against Frankfurt. Moukoko has the ball at his feet as he drives into Bayern territory, with Haaland making up the ground to his right. He touches it ahead as the Bayern shirts swarm, before Leon Goretzka steps in to make a timely intervention.
9'

LEFT-WING THREAT

Bayern attack with Davies, before Gnabry swings in a near-post cross. Lewandowski's lurking in the six-yard box, but makeshift centre-back Axel Witsel slides in to clear.
7'

PASSLACK TO THE RESCUE

Marco Reus uncharacteristically concedes possession in his own half. Serge Gnabry takes it on, but Felix Passlack - who scored an unfortunate goal at the weekend - sweeps in to clear.

As the players gather around the centre circle, Thomas Müller holds aloft a No.9 Gerd Müller shirt. Warm applause rings around the stadium - classy stuff for a classy player.

THE TEAMS ARE OUT

The two teams exchange pleasantries ahead of kick-off. Dortmund are in their traditional black-and-yellow shirts, Bayern are in their brand spanking new change strip, inspired by the Bavarian mountains.

HANSI FLICK IN ATTENDANCE

Former Bayern coach Hansi Flick is in the stands tonight. The revered 2020 sextuple-winning tactician will oversee his first game as Germany boss next month, having succeeded Joachim Löw following the 2020 Euros.

RIP GERD MÜLLER

There will be a minute's applause before kick-off in Dortmund, in memory of legendary striker Gerd Müller, who passed away on Sunday, aged 75. Between 1965 and 1979, Müller scored 365 goals in 427 Bundesliga appearances for Bayern. The Nördlingen native also won a record seven top scorer's cannons, and in 1971/72 set a 40-goal single-season record, which stood for 49 years until Lewandowski rewrote the history books with 41 strikes last season. In 607 competitive games for Bayern, Müller scored 566 goals. 'Der Bomber der Nation' also produced 68 goals in 62 senior international appearances for Germany, with whom he won the 1972 UEFA Euros and 1974 FIFA World Cup.

JULIAN NAGELSMANN WARY OF DORTMUND THREAT

Unlike Rose, who's two from two, Julian Nagelsmann is yet to win since taking over from Hansi Flick at Bayern. Prior to the Gladbach draw, the record champions played out three pre-season defeats and a draw under their new coach, with their DFB Cup first-round tie with Bremer SV postponed until next week. The 33-year-old would like nothing more than to redress the balance in Dortmund. "They're incredibly dangerous in transition, and in Erling Haaland have an outstanding player," he warned. "We have to keep them at bay as much as possible. It's an important game against an opponent who's started the season very well. It'd be really nice to win a first title with a first win."
camera-photo

MARCO ROSE: 'WE'LL FIGHT FOR THAT TITLE'

New Dortmund coach could claim his first trophy in only his third game in charge. "You should always try to win, but there's a title up for grabs as well," he said ahead of the game. "When you come here, knowing the history of the club, you want to work towards competing for titles - that's why I'm here. It's a prestigious game against Bayern Munich. It's a chance to measure ourselves against the best team in Germany. We'll fight for that title."

WATCH: BAYERN EDGE SUPERCUP THRILLER

Joshua Kimmich scored a late winner as Bayern won the 2020 Supercup 3-2, after Dortmund had fought back from two goals down to equalise in the second half. Another humdinger would do nicely...

SUPERCUP KLASSIKER MEMORY LANE

Bayern are the record eight-time Supercup winners, and six-time runners-up. They're also the holders, having dethroned Dortmund in last season's edition. BVB beat Bayern in 2019, 2014, 2013 and 1989, and lifted the trophy in 1995 and 1996.

DORTMUND'S KRYPTONITE

Lewandowski stuck away 103 goals in 187 competitive games for Dortmund, before moving to Bayern on a free transfer in summer 2014. The Poland has since rattled off 295 goals in 330 games for the record champions, including 22 in 23 outings against his former employers.

Bayern came from behind to draw with Borussia Mönchengladbach in their first competitive outing under Julian Nagelsmann. The irrepressible Robert Lewandowski scored for the 11th straight Bundesliga game - a personal record in the red of Bayern - and might have had a couple more but for Gladbach goalkeeper Yann Sommer.

THE HAALANDATOR

Haaland has now had a direct hand in 80 goals in 61 competitive appearances for Borussia Dortmund, including five in his last three meetings with Bayern. A first win over the record champions has proved elusive, though...

WATCH: DORTMUND 5-2 FRANKFURT

After scoring a hat-trick against Wehen Wiesbaden in the DFB Cup first round, Erling Haaland blew Eintracht Frankfurt away on the opening weekend of the Bundesliga season. The 21-year-old had a had in all five Dortmund goals, scoring two, directly assisting two and teeing up another via a deflected shot.

WHO IS YOUSSOUFA MOUKOKO?

Already a scorer of some 127 goals for the Dortmund U17s and 19s, Moukoko wrote his name into the history books as the Bundesliga's youngest player, a day after his 16th Birthday. He became the Champions League's greenest debutant within a week, before overtaking Nuri Sahin as the youngest Bundesliga scorer, aged 16 years and 28 days. Moukoko added two more top-flight strikes to his tally in the new year, only for a ligament injury to check his accelerated progress. Back to full fitness, the Supercup marks his first start of the new campaign following substitute outings in the DFB Cup and on Bundesliga Matchday 1.
