BREMEN HIT FOR SIX

Bayern were so clinical here and fully deserve the win. Bremen have been impressive this season but they were out of their depth at the Allianz Arena, and you suspect that would have been the case even if star striker Niclas Füllkrug had been fit. Julian Nagelsmann's side have now scored 47 goals after 14 rounds of matches, which is the second-best return at this stage of a season in Bundesliga history. Only the 1976/77 Bayern crop have ever managed more, with 48.

EMPHATIC FINISH!

Bayern break forward in numbers and have five players against three defenders. Tel leads the charge and opts to go it alone, striding forward before smashing an unstoppable shot past Pavlenka from the edge of the area for his third goal of the season!

Bayern very nearly get another goal as some lovely play from Choupo-Moting releases Sane into space. He charges into the box and only has Pavlenka to beat but his shot hits the outside of the post and bounces wide.

Bremen made one change during the half-time interval with Stark replacing Veljkovic in defence, but it's done little to change the flow of the game: Bayern are dominating possession and looking for a fifth goal.

NON-STOP FIRST HALF

Musiala put Bayern ahead as early as the sixth minute and there hasn't been a lull in the action since. Jung equalised, Choupo-Moting missed a penalty and then Bayern hit three inside six minutes - two from Gnabry and one from Goretzka - to put them well on course for a ninth Bundesliga win of the season.

DUCKSCH A WHISKER AWAY!

A lapse in concentration from Upamecano as he plays the ball across the face of his own goal, looking for Pavard. He somehow doesn't see Ducksch standing in the way though and the Bremen forward sticks out a leg to block the pass, the ball rolling just wide of the target!

PENALTY APPEAL

Sane plays a one-two with Choupo-Moting as he charges into the box until he is stopped by Gruev, who trips over and falls on top of the ball. Sane appeals for handball but play is waved on.
38'

NO WAY THROUGH

Bremen are still plugging away and trying to give the home defence something to think about but Upamecano and Hernandez in particular are just mopping everything up. It's hard to see a way back for the visitors in this one.

TEAM NEWS - BAYERN

Julian Nagelsmann has only made one change to his line-up following the Matchday 13 triumph at Hertha Berlin, with Lucas Hernandez coming in at left-back fro the injured Alphonso Davies.

TEAM NEWS - BREMEN

It's largely as expected from the visitors today, with Oliver Burke given a chance to shine up top in Niclas Füllkrug's absence. Anthony Jung replaces Niklas Stark and Christian Groß takes Romano Schmid's place in the only two other changes from the team that overcame Schalke 2-1 on Saturday.

RECORD IN SIGHT FOR MUSIALA

The Bayern attacker could become the first teenager in Bundesliga history to win his 50th top-flight match today, coming in just his 70th outing.

WHAT THEY'RE SAYING - BAYERN

"Bremen have a good coach and a clear plan of how they want to play, both in attack and defence," said Julian Nagelsmann yesterday. "They have two dangerous strikers and are very physical. They are very aggressive and will pose a tough challenge for us tomorrow night. Matthijs de Ligt, Josip Stanisic and Thomas Müller all won't play. Dayot Upamecano is carrying a bit of a knock. Manuel Neuer is doing really well and will play in goal. Alphonso Davies isn't seriously injured, fortunately."

WHAT THEY'RE SAYING - BREMEN

"Bayern is the toughest away game on paper," said Bremen coach Ole Werner at his media briefing ahead of this fixture. "You need to do your homework and be at your best. We'll look to take on the challenge with the players we have available. You try to identify the spaces in the opponent's half that you can utilise. There is very little margin for error both with the ball and without it. You have to go about things with the highest tempo and the highest quality."

WATCH: PREVIOUS MEETING: BREMEN 1-3 BAYERN

Following Bremen's relegation at the end of the 2020/21 season, it's been a while since these teams last locked horns: since 13 March 2021 to be precise. Bayern took the spoils thanks to goals from Leon Goretzka, Serge Gnabry and Robert Lewandowski, with Füllkrug netting a late consolation for the hosts.

NO FÜLLKRUG, NO PARTY?

The Bremen talisman, who has scored 10 of his team's 23 Bundesliga goals so far this season, is absent for this one after limping off the pitch in his side's 2-1 win over Schalke on Sunday. It's the first time the 29-year-old has been unavailable for a competitive game in over a year, since Bremen's 3-0 Bundesliga 2 win over Heidenheim on 1 October 2021.

FIRST FOR WERNER

Bremen boss Ole Werner has never gone up against Bayern Munich as a coach, nor against counterpart Julian Nagelsmann. Given the way his Bremen team have started the season though, he's likely to go at it head on!

HISTORY ON BAYERN'S SIDE

Bayern have won 58 of the 100 Bundesliga meetings between these teams so far (53%), with 26 draws and 26 victories for Bremen. The record Bundesliga champions even have a 65% success rate on home turf against Werder, taking maximum points from 36 of the 55 games played in Munich. In fact, Bremen's last taste of victory at the Allianz Arena was in September 2008 when they won 5-2, with the likes of Mesut Özil and Claudio Pizarro both on target for the Green-and-Whites.

THE STAKES

Bayern are out to consolidate top spot after reclaiming the summit from Union Berlin at the weekend. Currently just a point ahead of second-placed Freiburg and three ahead of Dortmund going into Matchday 14, there's no room for any slip-ups. Bremen have defied expectations since gaining promotion at the end of last season and are currently just seven points behind their hosts in seventh place. You suspect they'll be happy to take anything from this game ahead of kick-off.
