Chance - twice!

Watch: Hoffenheim 1-4 Gladbach

Jonas Hofmann starred for Gladbach on Matchday 18.

Schalke in must-win territory

"Gladbach play great football if you let them and they have lots of quality in their ranks," warned Schalke head coach Thomas Reis. "We have to make sure we don't let them play their own game. We'd have liked to have made a better start to the year, but there are some encouraging signs. We have to take something from the game."

Farke wary of Schalke challenge

"We're really motivated to pick up where we left off in our last game and finally get back-to-back wins, but we also know that the next game is always the most difficult one," admitted Gladbach boss Daniel Farke prior to the game. "Everyone is expecting us to get the job done at home to the bottom-placed team. We also expect that of ourselves. But they're fighting with everything they have to stay in the league. It's a really tricky task for us."

Form check

Gladbach start the day in eighth place, having lost their first two matches of 2023 before taking down Hoffenheim a week ago. Schalke are propping up the table, six points adrift of the relegation play-off spot. They've recorded just two wins all season, and are winless in four.
