information
Pass Efficiency
Pass Efficiency compares the number of successful passes with the number of passes expected to find another teammate. For this, every pass receives an AI-calculated probability to be a successful one. If a player has a positive Pass Efficiency value, he has brought more passes to his teammates than predicted.

STANDING OVATION

The Bayern fans show their appreciation for Musiala, who has four goals already this season, including a league-leading three in the Bundesliga. Summer signing Ryan Gravenberch is on in the teenager's stead. Kovac, meanwhile, introduces Messrs Vranckx and Brekalo.

MANE!

Musiala does really well to pick out Mane in the six-yard box. He stoops to head goalwards, but only suceeeds in knocking it down onto his knee and wide. Can he make it three goals in as many competitive games for Bayern?

BAYERN DOUBLE THEIR LEAD!

MOMENT'S REFLECTION

There's a minute's reflection ahead of the game, in memory of former Bayern president Willi Hoffmann. With Hoffmann in charge, Bayern won the Bundesliga and DFB Cup twice each, and reached the final of the 1982 European Cup. He passed away on 9 August, aged 92.

TEAMS OUT

Kick-off's imminent at the Allianz Arena. Ominously, Bayern have scored in each of their last 28 Bundesliga meetings with Wolfsburg (80 goals all told). That's the record champions' longest goalscoring run against any top-flight team.

WATCH: JAMAL MUSIALA - BAYERN'S 'BAMBI' TAKING GREAT STRIDES

He shone for Bayern Munich in the Supercup and shone again as they demolished Eintracht Frankfurt in their own backyard on Matchday 1. Jamal Musiala has made a blistering start to 2022/23, with his remarkable ability to skip past defenders inside the box once more to the fore. We chart the 19-year-old Germany international’s swift and remarkable rise from top talent to integral part of the record champions’ team.

MÜLLER MILESTONE

Thomas Müller makes his 417th Bundesliga appearance for Bayern, taking him second on the club's list of all-time appearance-makers. Only his namesake Gerd (472) played more in more top-flight matches.

THE NAGELSMANN VIEW

"We play a very high-speed game, especially in the final third due to having a lot of similar types of player, who like to play with each other and move a lot. In training this week we've again practised playing against opponents who defend deeper. Wolfsburg have a very good team, a very good squad. I expect them in different lines and not to sit back. They'll get in the game and want to win. I'm not expecting them to be wide open, but I don't expect them to park the bus."

WATCH: BAYERN'S FANTASTIC FOUR

Bayern scored five against Leipzig and put six past Frankfurt. They've only tallied more goals after their first two competitive matches of a season once before (12, 1976/77). Six different scorers have stepped up post-Lewandowski, including Mane, Musiala and Gnabry. Müller, meanwhile, has two assists.

MORE ON THOSE TEAMS

Nagelsmann sticks with the same starting line-up that beat Leipzig in the Supercup and Frankfurt on Matchday 1. That means Matthijs de Ligt is again among the substitutes, while Jamal Musiala keeps out Leroy Sane. Kovac makes one change to the side that drew with Bremen as Josuha Guilavogui - on target from the bench on the opening weekend - dislodges Josip Brekalo in midfield.

ONE OF A KIND - ALMOST

Kovac is matched by Franz Beckenbauer and Hansi Flick as the only men to have won the Bundesliga with Bayern as a player and coach.
camera-photo

FAMILIAR FACE

Egypt international Omar Marmoush should continue in attack for head coach Niko Kovac, who returns to face his former employers for the first time. Kovac led Bayern to a Bundesliga and DFB Cup double in 2018/19, having denied the Bavarians cup glory a year earlier when he led Eintracht Frankfurt to that trophy.

WIND OUT OF WOLFSBURG'S SAILS

Wolfsburg have a couple of injury worries of their own. Jonas Wind, who scored in the Wolves' 2-2 draw against Bayern on the final day last season, misses out with a hamstring complaint, while midfielder Yannick Gerhardt is also sidelined.
camera-photo

DE LIGT TO WAIT

Although De Ligt may have to wait for his starting debut in the Bundsliga, Marcel Sabitzer should retain his place alongside Joshua Kimmich in central midfield in the ongoing absence of Leon Goretzka.

NEVER CHANGE A WINNING TEAM

Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann said on Friday he has no need to change his starting line-up from the Frankfurt game, with Benjamin Pavard preferred to summer signing Noussair Mazraoui at right-back, and fellow new arrival Matthijs de Ligt expected to begin on the bench once more.
camera-photo

THE MANE MAN

All eyes will be on Sadio Mane, who netted Bayern's third goal in the 6-1 thrashing of Eintracht Frankfurt last weekend, adding to his strike in the Supercup triumph over RB Leipzig. The Senegalese star has dovetailed brilliantly with Bayern's other attacking outlets since joining over the summer, with Jamal Musiala (three goals, one assist), Serge Gnabry (two goals, two assists) and Thomas Müller (two assists) all on fire so far, with Julian Nagelsmann's side seemingly adapting seamlessly to Robert Lewandowski's departure.
