Full-time: Union 1-1 Bochum
You sense the home support will be a little relieved to come out of this with a point. It took a brilliant Juranovic free-kick to put them ahead on the stroke of half-time, but Bochum were far the better side after the restart and levelled thanks to Stöger's penalty. Union went down to 10 after Jaeckel's red card and also had a goal ruled out for a tight offside. Both teams also missed golden chances late on. An entertaining 90 minutes all round and perhaps a fair result.

Time for a winner?
Chants of "Eisern Union" go around the Alte Försterei as the home support try to help their team get over the line without any further damage. They'll be going back third, above Leipzig, with a point.

Added time

Masovic!
Bochum's main goalgetter in 2023 decides to have a crack from 30 yards that has Ronnow scrambling but able to snaffle. The Dane then encourages his defenders to step it up another notch for the closing minutes.
88'
All change
That header was Behrens's final act for the day. He takes his place on the bench, chuntering away to himself and perhaps bemoaning his luck today, as part of a triple Union change. Bochum make a couple of their own up front.

Behrens has to score!
The big man has his head in his hands. Ninety-nine time out of 100 he puts this away. Becker is away down the right with nobody catching him. Cross to the far post where Behrens is completely unmarked and with the goal at his mercy, but he puts his header wide! Simply had to be the lead for Union.
81'
Should be the lead!
Bochum win a corner and taking it quickly, catching Union napping in the middle. Hofmann plants his head on it under pressure from two panicking Union defenders. It takes a brilliant reaction stop from Ronnow to claw it away diving to his left. Roussillon then hacks it clear off the line.

Behrens!
Riemann comes for a Juranovic cross but only palms it down to an Union shirt. It's laid off to Behrens, who hits it from 18 yards. Gamboa was back on the line with Riemann scrambling to get back in position. Both are mighty relieved as the ball rises over the crossbar.
77'
When will Fischer make his move?
Union's Swiss boss is usually very consistent in his substitutions, often replacing one if not both of the strikers around the hour mark to freshen things up. We're about 15 minutes from the end now and he's so far only made one enforced switch.

Gamboa returns
A great moment for Cristian Gamboa as the Costa Rica international makes his long-awaited return from a knee injury. Straight swap at right-back with Osei-Tutu.

Pinball!
Chaos inside the Union area as a corner is flapped at by Ronnow. Asano tries to find the gap but his effort is blocked. Several red and blue shirts then have wild swings at getting something on the ball. Eventually it's Union who clear.

Got the crowd going again
The Bochum equaliser and Jaeckel sending off had definitely quietened things down inside the Alte Försterei, but that disallowed Behrens goal has got the 22,000 going again. The hosts have also now adjusted for the red card by bringing on Leite for Laidouni.

It won't count!
All of a sudden it looks like the 10 men have gone back ahead as Behrens runs onto a through ball. His shot hits the post before rebounding back off Riemann and in, but it's all for nothing as a VAR review sees the striker had gone a fraction to early and is offside.

Another upset on the cards?
These sides may be at opposite ends of the table, but that was even more so the case when they met earlier this season in Bochum. The hosts were bottom and the visitors top, but it was Bochum who got the win. Momentum very much feels to be with them now.
61'
Union down to 10!
Momentum had definitely swung Bochum's way and things have just got worse for the hosts as Jaeckel catches Osterhage and is shown his second yellow in the space of 11 minutes. The hosts are down to 10 men.

New PB for Stöger
His fourth goal of the campaign is a new personal record in the Bundesliga. Three of them have been penalties, which have all come across the last five games.

And out of nowhere, Bochum are level! Stöger for the second week in a row holds his nerve from the spot, going straight down the middle here.

Penalty Bochum!
Ivan Ordets goes for a cross and is caught by Laidouni having a swing at a clearance. Referee Stieler immediately points to the spot.

A 'clever' yellow
Jaeckel knows he's never catching Antwi-Adjei to a ball up the line and takes a booking for his troubles.

An impossible task?
Bochum are the only team this season yet to earn a single point from games in which they've trailed. Their record when going behind this term is 17 defeats.

Over from Osterhage
Sweet hit from the Bochum midfielder on his left foot but it's always rising.
46'
Back we come
False start as Bochum's players try to charge into the Union half before the ball is kicked, but we're going again now. No further changes for either side at the break. There was just the one enforced substitution for the visitors early in the first half.

An unwanted milestone
That was the 2,000th goal Bochum have conceded in the Bundesliga. It's now 61 this season alone and 19 from set pieces - both are the most in the division.

Perfect time to score
Almost no time for Bochum to even try and muster up a response at the end of that half. It had been tight but Union definitely the better side. The visitors would've been more than happy to go into the break goalless, but that Juranovic strike completely changes the dynamic of this game.

Off the bar!
Definitely a cross, but Roussillon very nearly gets his first Union goal with a delivery from the left that goes over everyone in the box and clips the top of the crossbar. Riemann seemed confident enough to watch it without jumping.
35'
Now Asano
A half chance at the other end now as Asano runs onto a deep cross from the left. He doesn't really connect under pressure, though, and it goes through harmlessly to Ronnow.

Cross from the right is deep for Becker. The forward meets it on the run with his head and tries to put it back across goal, but it's into the arms of Riemann.

Different from Union
Looking at Union's positioning so far this game, it's actually Laidouni who's been the deeper of the midfield three so far, playing behind Khedira who's normally the holding man.

A rather large divot near the touchline catches out Osei-Tutu and causes him to trip while getting back into position for a throw. Union boss Fischer steps in to flatten the turf and make it safe again.

Juranovic swings in a cross from the right. Bochum's goalkeeper and captain for the day Riemann decides to take charge and flies out to punch clear, also taking out his own man in Osei-Tutu in the process.

Schlotterbeck down
Not good for Nico's younger brother as he immediately signals for the medical staff after getting caught by the studs of Becker in a sliding challenge. He's got a nasty-looking gash and that's probably him done for the day.

But flexible...
That being said, Masovic has dropped between the two centre-backs a couple of times so far when in possession, providing cover while encouraging the full-backs forward.

As expected from Bochum
There was a thought when the line-ups were revealed that it could be a back three from the visitors, but it is indeed Masovic who partners Osterhage in defensive midfield.

Union mean business
Union are straight on the attack with Roussillon. Behrens and Khedira go to ground as the cross comes in, but the referee is unmoved. Doekhi - so dangerous from set pieces - fires over the top from the ensuing corner.

Proud Union fans
Stirring pre-match stuff at the 22,012-capacity Alte Försterei. There really is no place like it in football. The fans have some pipes on them, too!
Top-four battle
Fifth-placed Freiburg have turned things around to lead in Bremen. As things stand, they'll be just a point behind Union in the race for UEFA Champions League qualification.
The pre-match standings
Union have dropped to fourth on goal difference following Leipzig's victory over Augsburg yesterday, but will reclaim third whilst moving back to within three points of second-placed Dortmund with a win of their own. Bochum begin the day two points above the relegation play-off spot occupied by Stuttgart, who held BVB to a 3-3 draw on Saturday.
More on those teams
Fischer makes two changes to the Dortmund defeat, with Laidouni and Roussillon in for Thorsby and Gießelmann. Full-back Osei-Tutu and central defender Schlotterbeck come into a rejigged Bochum side, meanwhile, with Stafylidis unavailable and Losilla suspended.

Watch: Sheraldo Becker under the tactical microscope
Home fortress
Union are one of just two teams (alongside Bayern Munich) not to have lost at home in the Bundesliga this season. In fact, Urs Fischer's men are currently on a 19-game unbeaten sequence in the league dating all the way back to last term. The club's longest undefeated stretch at home in the top flight stands at 21 games, set between October 2020 and October 2021.
Bochum uneasy with crosses
The visitors have conceded more goals from crosses than any other team this season (10) - they even let in three such goals against Stuttgart last weekend.
Record in sight
Union are currently on 15 wins this season. Their record in a single top-flight campaign is 16, which they could equal here.
