Close encounter?
“Regardless of our opponents, nearly all of our games this season have been tight games.," home coach Ole Werner said in his pre-match press briefing. "Each of [them] had moments in which the game could have gone either way.” Does a draw thus beckon based on the Bremen tactician's words? We'll soon find out.

Watch: Previous meeting: Freiburg 2-0 Werder Bremen
Winless Werder
Bremen have not won any of their five most recent Bundesliga outings, drawing two and losing three. It's their longest such drought under coach Ole Werner.
Beware Bremen's second wind
Werder have scored a league-high 18 goals in the final quarter of an hour of their matches this season. Of those, 14 have arrived after the 82nd minute, including six stoppage-time strikes. No other Bundesliga team can match those numbers. Indeed, if Bremen's matches had ended after 80 minutes instead of 90, they would have 10 points fewer on the board in 2022/23.
Can Freiburg get their 1,000th goal?
The Black Forest club have so far scored 999 times in 775 Bundesliga matches, putting them on the cusp of a major milestone. They will become the 21st club to reach the landmark when it happens.
