Dortmund's dream over

Wow! What a day of drama! Dortmund managed to pull it back to draw in the end but it wasn't enough to get the win they so desperately needed. Bayern Munich are champions for an 11th straight year.

As it stands

Cologne have equalised at home to Bayern, making it 1-1 there. If that result holds, Dortmund will still be champions even if they lose here. Is more late drama on the way though?

More changes

Fresh legs for Mainz in midfield as Barkok replaces Stach, while Modeste comes on for Dortmund.

Another cross from the right and this time it finds Reyna on the edge of the six-yard box. It's free header but he can only direct it straight at Dahmen!

Monster tackle from Süle

Mainz break forward again and have four players against three defenders. Süle times his tackle perfectly though and nicks the ball away.
63'

Double change

Terzic brings fresh legs onto the pitch, hoping for fresh ideas and impetus. Malen is replaced by Reyna, who has scored five goals as a substitute already this season, while Brandt goes off for 17-year-old debutant Julien Duranville.
61'

More danger

Martin whips a ball across the face of goal from the left. It's a really teasing one and just needs a touch to go in, but there's nobody there to provide it!
60'

So close from Haller!

The Dortmund forward slides in at the back post, hoping to get on the end of a cross from the right, but he's inches away and can't make a connection!
58'

Onisiwo hits the post!

Mainz break forward again, and it's Onisiwo once more. The forward scampers into the box down the right and has Lee in support but opts to go it alone. He snatches at his shot though, and it hits the outside of the post before going out of play.
57'

Mainz are playing in a 5-4-1 formation whenever Dortmund have the ball, dropping deep and staying extremely compact. Dortmund will need to produce something special to break through that.

Big second half needed

With Bayern currently winning in Cologne, only a win will do for Dortmund if they are to win the title. It's not gone according to plan so far, with two goals conceded, a missed penalty and Karim Adeyemi being taken off injured, but they still have 45 minutes to turn things around. Don't go anywhere - this one is about to get even more tense!

Dortmund have been 2-0 down at home before this season: on Matchday 9 against Bayern they were trailing by the same scoreline before producing a late rally to draw 2-2. As things stand, however, BVB need to score three goals without reply here in order to be crowned champions.

Now or never

Dortmund fans - those that managed to sleep, that is - will have woken up feeling a mixture of dread and excitement this morning. Will their team get over the line and finally end Bayern's 11-season grip on the title, or will they fall short once more? The tension may well become unbearable for some today but one thing's for certain, the famed Yellow Wall will be a sight to behold later on.

Klopp behind Dortmund

"I hope Dortmund will win. I think it’s been long enough," Jürgen Klopp, who oversaw BVB's last title win in 2012, told media on Friday. "I know Edin [Terzic] very well, I know a lot of people very well at Dortmund. We were always in contact and we are now in contact. I know what it would mean to the city, and in general. I just hope they can do it. It would be massive."

Coach’s view: Dortmund

Edin Terzic: "It's a very special week for us. We've played ourselves into a situation that has created a lot of euphoria. They have already won tough games."

Bo Svensson: "You don't often get the chance to play in a game like this one. We want to enjoy it. Our focus is on ourselves and performing well. Nothing else matters to us, that's our approach."

Dortmund: personnel

It's all smiles around the club for Dortmund and in the treatment room too. There were no new injury concerns for Edin Terzic in midweek and Jude Bellingham (pictured) returned to training following a knee problem in good time for the title decider.

Dortmund: form

Dortmund have dazzled on their way to within one step of the title. They are unbeaten in seven and boast a whopping 11 wins in a row at home.

Mainz: personnel

Ludovic Ajorque, who has given real impetus to Mainz's attack since signing in January, sits out the clash suspended. Key defender Andreas Hanche-Olsen returns from a ban, however, and goalkeeper Robin Zentner (pictured) is available for selection again after missing some training last week.

Mainz: form

After a 3-1 home win against Bayern Munich last month capped a remarkable ten-match unbeaten run, Mainz's form has mysteriously plummeted. They have lost four on the bounce, and Dortmund's title dreams hinge in no small part on whether they can find a way to reverse that slump.

Süle to join select group?

Niklas Süle could become only the second player in Bundesliga history to win the title in consecutive seasons with two different clubs. The first and so far only man to do so is Gustl Starek, with Nuremberg in 1968 and then Bayern in 1969.

Will Reus finally get his trophy?

Dortmund’s captain could finally get his hands on the Meisterschale for the first time, at the age of 34. He’s scored more goals against Mainz (14) than against any other club in the Bundesliga.

05ers also aiming for history

Mainz will finish this season in either eighth, ninth or 10th place. A win will see them to 48 points – their best tally under Bo Svensson and third-best ever in the top flight.

Mainz to spoil the party?

They love a party in Mainz, but the 05ers could spoil one here. They’ve picked up results in three of their last five visits to Dortmund (two wins, one draw).

A club record to seal it?

Dortmund have won their last 11 Bundesliga games at home. A 12th would equal their club-record run, as well as set new club records for most home wins in a season (15) and points (46).

Can Dortmund get over the line?

BVB are one game away from claiming a sixth Bundesliga title and endling Bayern’s decade of dominance. Win and they’re champions. Anything else means they’re dependent on a Bayern slip in Cologne.
