Bochum: form
A late, late goal from Keven Schlotterbeck last week not only relegated Hertha Berlin but kept Bochum (just) out of the automatic drop zone, a point clear of Ruhr neighbours Schalke. They have managed results in three of their last four home games and will likely need to do the same here if they’re to avoid automatic relegation and then potentially also avoid the play-off by moving above Stuttgart, with the sides level on points but Bochum behind due to a substantially inferior goal difference.

Leverkusen: form
Bayer remain in pole position to secure sixth place and another season of continental football, going into the final matchday a point ahead of Wolfsburg and three clear of Frankfurt. They’ve somewhat limped towards the finishing line with three draws and a loss in their last four, but attention was also on their UEFA Europa League exploits during that time. They squandered a 2-0 lead at home to Gladbach last weekend, making things that bit more tense on the final day.

Long time since last win
Bochum's last win against Bayer Leverkusen came back in March 2008 - a 2-0 home win.
Bochum no boys
Bochum have fielded comfortably the oldest Bundesliga side by average age this season (29.1 years old).
Away strength
Bayer Leverkusen have suffered fewer defeats on the road this season (five) than at home (six).
Mixed formbook
Leverkusen are unbeaten in seven away matches in the Bundesliga, but have failed to win their past four for the first time under Alonso.
Fresh faces on dugouts
Despite several coaching changes since they took charge of their clubs in the autumn, Xabi Alonso and Thomas Letsch remain the two Bundesliga coaches with the fewest matches under their belt in the league (25 and 26 respectively).
Big business still at stake for both
Bochum need a win to avoid automatic relegation (and potentially ensure survival depending on other results), while a win for Leverkusen is the only way they can guarantee a European qualification spot. Sit tight!
