This game isn't the only reason Bavarians will be celebrating today. After the 2020 and 2021 editions were cancelled due to the pandemic, Oktoberfest makes its comeback this year, running from 17 September until 3 October. They flew out of the traps with wins over Eintracht Frankfurt (6-1), Wolfsburg (2-0) and Bochum (7-0), but have since drawn with Borussia Mönchengladbach, Union and Stuttgart. Augsburg have won in Leverkusen and Bremen, whilst losing to Freiburg, Mainz, Hoffenheim and Hertha Berlin. Enrico Maaßen's side are down in 13th, two points clear of the automatic relegation zone.
