Full-time: Augsburg 1-1 Dortmund

A superb game ends all square, which is probably a fair result. Ermedin Demirović and Donyell Malen netted the goals in an exciting first half and with the game continuing to entertain after the break, Augsburg goalkeeper Finn Dahmen was the star of the show, the 25-year-old making some outstanding saves to deny the visitors, not that the hosts didn't have their own chances to win it.

Reyna lines one up

It's ene to end at the death. Füllkrug tees up Reyna, who hits one low at the target. That man Dahmen makes one more stop.

Ruben Vargas now with the chance to win it for Augsburg! The Swiss midfielder is played in on the left and takes aim. He slashes at it and the ball flies wide of the far post with Kobel stretching.

What a save!

Meunier chips a lovely pass in from the left and Füllkrug throws himself into a scissor-kick pose, connecting with the centre on the full. Dahmen makes an outstanding one-handed stop that pushes the ball against the upright. That looked a certain goal when Füllkrug wound up to connect from close range.
86'

Black-and-Yellow attack

Malen - who else? - goes in search of a goal, gets into the ares and rifles at the target from an angle. Dahmen saves, with Bamba blasting over on the follow up.

Winner incoming?

As we head into the closing stages of this Matchday 15 encounter, will we see a winning goal? BVB are looking the likelier to score right now.

BVB chances

Brandt's set-piece looks perfect for Füllkrug, until Schlotterbeck rises ahead of the striker and heads off target. Füllkrug soon gets a chance to have a go himself after Finn Dahmen races out to tackle Malen. The ball loops into the air, leaving Füllkrug with an open goal to aim for. He heads wide.

Dahmen saves Augsburg

Finn Dahmen denies Malen's latest effort, the keeper going low to make the block. Malen was assisted by Bamba, who is looking very lively on his debut.

Bamba introduction

The 17-year-old Samuel Bamba is on for his first-team bow and goes straight in to the thick of the action, almost taking advantage of a huge mix-up between Jeffrey Gouweleeuw and Finn Dahmen. The hosts breathe a sigh of relief as the ball eventually fizzes wide.
71'

Demirović denied

Augsburg bring on Robert Gumny and almost instantly, the hosts are on the attack. Demirović lifts the ball past Kobel but Schlottterbeck is there to clear off the line.

Malen ever hungry

Füllkrug nods Malen into space and the attacker is away again, jinking one way and twisting another before stumbling while surrounded by three Augsburg defenders, leading to a rushed shot that zips wide.

Malen shining

The Dutch attacker - who netted BVB's equaliser here - is definitely the pick of the visitors' players at the WWK Arena and if Edin Terzic's side are to edge in front, the 24-year-old will likely be involved.
59'

Füllkrug off target

Lovely work from Malen, who skips into the box on the left and picks out Niclas Füllkrug, who drags a shot wide of the upright.
58'

Gio Reyna on

The American is getting a chance to shine here as he comes on to replace Marco Reus.
54'

Cool-hands Kobel

Tietz is in again, the forward this time volleying at the BVB goal from the left. Kobel leaps and pushes the ball away one-handed. That's a smart stop.
52'

So close, Augsburg

Big, big chance for Augsburg, who have started this second half the far stronger of the teams. Mads Pedersen's centre from the left is perfect for the unmarked Phillip Tietz, who somehow heads over the crossbar.
49'

Tietz's big chance

Kevin Mbabu works space down the right and crosses in towards the near post. Tietz is there and gets a touch on the ball, which lands in the arms of Kobel.

Half-time: Augsburg 1-1 Dortmund

A solid half's entertainment comes to an end with Dortmund cancelling out Ermedin Demirović's opener with a fine Donyell Malen strike. BVB steadily improved during the opening 45' but Augsburg are a real threat here, meaning an intriguing second half awaits.

Augsburg threaten

Having said that, the hosts break and it's Jensen on the right and angling towards Kobel. The attacker isn't quite sure whether to send one across the face or shoot and so does a bit of both, allowing BVB's keeper and Süle to stand in the way.

Augsburg's unwanted stat

FCA have conceded for an 18th consecutive Bundesliga game, a club record and the longest such sequence of any team in the Bundesliga right now. Goalkeeper Finn Dahmen is also without a clean sheet for 28 games.
37'

Solid duo

Donyell Malen now has five Bundesliga goals this season, as many as Füllkrug has assists.
35'

BVB back on terms

What a goal this is! Reus rolls Malen into space and the attacker bounds forward before prodding a pass in for Füllkrug. His back to goal, the Germany forward sends a reverse, flicked pass back through the legs of his marker and into Malen's path. Malen then side-foots a sumptuous finish into the corner. Wonderful.

Augsburg lead! Ermedin Demirović chases a long ball over the top and suddenly the Bosnia forward only has Nico Schlotterbeck in front of him. There's contact between the two and the BVB defender goes down, leaving Demirović to waltz through and send a confident finish past Gregor Kobel! A VAR review confirms the goal is a-ok.

Donyell Malen tester

BVB's Dutch attacker suddenly has time on the edge of the area and he flashes a dangerous shot just wide of the far post. Malen's effort took a slight nick off an Augsburg player on its way, meaning BVB win a corner, which comes to nothing.

Bynoe-Gittens is menacing and the English attacker is able to loop a pass in for Reus, who is in front of goal with time to shoot. Reus angles his body and pokes one towards the far post but Finn Dahmen makes a solid stop to deflect wide. Big save from the Augsburg custodian.
5'

Augsburg again

Schlotterbeck and Bensebaini get in complete muddle and suddenly Tietz can feed Jensen on the right. He centres across the face but there's nobody there for Augsburg. This has not been a good start by BVB.
3'

Jensen off target

Augsburg apply a little pressure of their own and win a corner. Fredrik Jensen's set-piece comes to nothing but the Finn is there again moments later when BVB give up possession. Jensen's shot flies high and wide. That was a decent chance for the hosts.

Füllkrug on the prowl

Augsburg dither at the back and Füllkrug is ready to pounce. Felix Uduokhai responds to make a crucial intervention and poke the ball back to his goalkeeper.

Füllkrug on form

The former Werder Bremen man is finding his form in the Ruhr. He has contributed to five goals in his last four games (three goals and two assists) and will be looking to add to that run here.

Head-to-head

Dortmund have the edge in recent meetings, winning four of the previous match-ups, including last time out when they won 3-0 against the 10-men Fuggerstädter. Augsburg's last victory, meanwhile, came in September 2020, when they prevailed 2-0 thanks to goals from Daniel Caligiuri and Felix Uduokhai.

Demirović to star?

No prizes for guessing Augsburg's key player this season - captain Ermedin Demirović has led from the front. He has been involved in over half of his side's 23 goals this season, scoring on seven occasions and assisting a further five.
camera-photo

Terzić's view on Augsburg

"They've stabilised [under Jess Thorup], have good energy and intensity in their game, especially at home. But we have enough quality and have gained confidence from the last two games."
camera-photo

Thorup's view on Dortmund

"When we play at home in front of our great fans, we always try to put the opponent under pressure and control the game. But we have to pay attention to our opponents, their individual quality, but also be focused in and out of possession to get our chances. We’ll try to have an attacking approach, but to me that means not just in possession but out of it too. We need to take our chances to put the opponent under pressure, but also be wary of their quality when we’re sitting deeper and can counter-attack. There are possibilities and we've worked on those during the week."
