Well, that didn't last long. Almost immediately after Alidou's opener, Wolfsburg go up the other end and equalise. USA international Kevin Paredes is the man with the goal, sneaking in at the back post and tapping home Joakim Maehle's cross from the right.

“Never again is now!”

Under this slogan, German professional football is commemorating the victims of National Socialism on and around 27 January, the date of liberation of the Auschwitz concentration camp. This is the 20th year in which the DFL and the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 clubs have been involved in the “day of commemoration in German football” in cooperation with the “!Nie Wieder” (“!Never Again”) initiative. In light of current events, the day of commemoration around Matchdays 19 and 20 (26–28 January and 2–4 February) will focus on the topic of antisemitism.

Kovac's view on Cologne

“I certainly won’t underestimate Cologne. It’s going to be a tough game again, a tough game. I don’t think the game will give many goals."

Schultz's view on Wolfsburg

"We'll see what Wolfsburg maybe offer us, where we can cause them problems, what are the things we're doing well at the moment but also the issues where we have to do better. The focus is on us. We have to develop and progress with our points of focus."

Talking points

If Cologne lose, they'll set an unwanted club record of just 11 points from 19 matches, while Wolfsburg have dropped points six times after taking a 1-0 lead, giving away a total of 15 points.
