Unwanted record
Bayern are heading towards an unwanted club record: the visitors have had just one shot on target in this game, which, if it stays like this, would be their worst return in a single match for eight years.

Half-time: Leverkusen 1-0 Bayern
The referee brings a fascinating first half to a close. Bayern began well in terms of ball possession but from the moment Josip Stanišić stunned his parent club with the game's opener, Bundesliga leaders Leverkusen have been in control of this contest. Thomas Tuchel will no doubt have some stern words for the visitors at half-time while Xabi Alonso will be delighted in the opposing dressing room.

Leverkusen team news
The hosts defeated Stuttgart in dramatic fashion in the DFB Cup in midweek and Xabi Alonso is showing four changes to the team that began that quarter-final encounter. Jeremie Frimpong, Jonas Hofmann and Patrik Schick all drop to the bench while in come Josip Stanišić (on loan from Bayern), Nathan Tella and Amine Adli. Elsewhere, Lukáš Hrádecký retakes his place in goal from Matěj Kovář.

Table talk
So, Leverkusen lead the way on 52 points, two clear of Bayern. A 17th win of the season would give them a five-point cushion and a huge psychological advantage, but a first defeat would allow the defending champions to regain top spot for the first time since the close of play on Matchday 5. A draw, meanwhile, would keep things as they are heading into the final 13 rounds of fixtures.
