Watch: Loïs Openda on scoring streak

+ 6

Full-time: Augsburg 2-2 Leipzig

Augsburg arguably the happier with a point at the end of a thrilling match, with Openda's missed penalty - or Dahmen's penalty save - proving costly for Marco Rose's men, who lose ground in the race for a top-four finish. Augsburg show their bouncebackability once again to strengthen their position in mid-table.

Maier steers wide

Could there be some late drama here? Arne Maier's low effort goes just wide of the far post, taking a slight deflection on its way.

Substitute Simakan heads just inches wide of the post, with a good chance for the guests. He is then caught by Dahmen and requires treatment.

Demirović on club record course

With 12 goals, Demirović is just one shy of equalling a club record for the most goals in a single season, shared by Florian Niederlechner (2019/20) and Michael Gregoritsch (2017/18). No Augsburg player had ever before scored 12 goals after 21 goals of a season.

Rexhbecaj has the next shot on goal, but Elvis' shot goes so high that it does not threaten Gulacsi's goal.

Uduokhai close!

Another good chance for Augsburg with Uduokhai's header just going wide of the left-hand upright. You can sense a winner in this game, but which end might it come at?
61'

Just like that

What we were saying? Demirović dribbles into the box, skips onto his preferred right foot and then unleashes an unstoppable shot into the top left-hand corner.

Jensen has a go

Do not rule Augsburg out of this just yet - Jensen's low shot gives Gulacsi some work to do, and shows that the Fuggerstädter are not done here. They have come from behind to win a league-leading eight times this season, after all.

Post!

Šeško strikes the post and while Olmo drills in the rebound, the offside flag goes up and it does not count.

Rare turnaround

Leipzig have only once come from a goal down to win this season, recovering to beat VfB Stuttgart 5-1 on Matchday 2. Is there more to come today?

Three in a row

Šeško has now scored in three straight games - all with his head.
52'

Heads up!

Šeško almost copies Openda to head Leipzig in front, nodding Olmo's cross into the top left-hand corner, and giving the guests the lead in Augsburg.

Relief for Raum

He's back on his feet and it was just a false alarm.

Raum concern

Raum looks in a lot of pain and this is a worry for Leipzig. His assist for Openda was his sixth of the season, but the way he is holding his knee, it could well prove to be his last.

All square at the break

After a tense first half hour, the game burst into life with goals and chances at both ends. On the balance of play, a draw is the fair outcome of that first 45 minutes, with the appetite whet for more to come in the second 45 minutes.

A groan from the Augsburg fans as Rexhbecaj makes a hash of what was a clear shot on goal.

Vargas into the side-netting

That should have been Augsburg's first shot on target, but Vargas slices his effort from an angle and it ripples the side-netting. At least the chances are now arriving, at both ends.

Olmo denied!

That is the best chance of the game yet, and Dahmen denies what seems to be a certain goal from Olmo, whose stooping header was destined for the bottom corner until it was plucked out by the last line of the Augsburg defence.

Dahmen's unwanted record

Augsburg goalkeeper Finn Dahmen stands between the posts for the 34th time in the Bundesliga, and he has not yet kept a clean sheet. No other goalkeeper has gone his first 34 Bundesliga games without a clean sheet - could he set an unwanted record today?
Kick-off!

All set!

The two teams are out and now Leipzig coach Marco Rose has emerged from the dressing room. All ready for the action to begin!

50 candles for Rose

This is the Leipzig coach's 50th Bundesliga fixture in charge of Die Roten Bullen.
camera-photo

Strange for Simakan

A result of Rose's unchanged team means that Simakan sits on the bench for only the second time this season. He was suspended last time out, but has otherwise always started, except on Matchday 16, when he came on for the second half.
camera-photo

Rare from Rose

Conversely, Leipzig coach Rose names an unchanged side for only the second time this season. The only other time he did not make any changes was on Matchday 3, when his side ran out 3-0 winners at Union Berlin.
camera-photo

Three is the magic number

Augsburg coach Thorup has now named an unchanged starting XI for three straight games. The last time an Augsburg coach did that was in September/October 2022. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

The scene is set

Two teams, referees and plenty of fans will turn this place alive very soon

No changes

Both coaches have decided to stick with the same 11 players they sent into action last weekend, with two unchanged sides lining up today. Dorsch is back on the bench for Augsburg, though, in a timely boost for Thorup.

All eyes on Xavi

Thorup's view on Leipzig

"We've shown good performances in the last few home games but ended up with not enough points. It's time for a clean sheet. We earned a deserved point last time out in Bochum. The last four home games were all against top teams. We now want the full haul of points against Leipzig, who have a lot of quality in attack."
camera-photo

Rose's view on Augsburg

"Saturday will be very awkward. Augsburg are always a challenge for every team. That's nothing new, especially in Augsburg. They have a team that can play, with an idea and a lot of mentality. We know what to expect. I put the greatest pressure on myself. I and we can only influence what's said around us with results. If they're negative, then questions will quickly follow."

Set-piece threat

Leipzig have scored a league-high 14 goals from set-pieces so far this season, while Augsburg have conceded the most from dead-ball situations (also 14).
