Tuta off!
And now there's parity in numbers too as Tuta catches Agu on the heel. He's initially shown a second yellow, but the referee is again summoned over to the monitor. He rescinds the yellow and upgrades his decision to a straight red. The goalscorer has to go with his second dismissal of this campaign.

Spain U19 striker Ferri is on to give this tiring Bremen defence something extra to think about. The experienced Chandler is also on out wide.

One for the team
Tuta knows he can't keep up as Bremen look to counter so pulls out a bodycheck and accepts his first yellow card of the season, shortly after scoring his first goal of 2023/24.

Stage off!
Another twist in this game as referee Hartmann is summoned over to the monitor to review a challenge by the Werder midfielder. It's high, just below the knee of Bahoya, and the referee has no doubt in showing the Dane a straight red.

Koch!
Closer this time from the Germany international with a great leap at a corner, but his header flies just wide of the upright.

Deflected over
Frankfurt have burst back into life since the goal. Tuta runs onto a miscued clearance from a corner and wins another with a deflection over the bar.

Friedl into the book
One foul too many from the Werder captain and he picks up his fifth caution of the season, meaning he'll miss next week's trip to leaders Leverkusen.

The Eintracht boss makes an immediate double change. Straight swap on the left with Nkounkou for Max. Larsson on for Collins will see Tuta drop back into the back three.

Götze nods over
We know he's capable of brilliant things and has scored a header this season, but the 2014 World Cup winner doesn't get this header right as he leaps and puts his attempt off target.
58'
Calm from Tuta
Werder come forward at pace and Weiser digs out a cross. Tuta races back into the box and coolly chests the ball down to Trapp to collect while running towards his own goal. Cool as you like from the Brazilian.

VAR check
Trapp doesn't cover himself in glory punching a free-kick high into the air in his box. Veljković and Pacho both go for the ball and the ball strikes an arm - in fact both of them - as they tussle for it. It's checked by VAR but play is quickly waved on.

Koch's head
Chaibi floats in a free-kick from right of centre. Koch meets it with his head but can't put it on target. He says he was being held, but the referee waves away any protests.

Familiar feeling
Frankfurt played out a 0-0 draw here last weekend. And it's the fifth time in 2024 that Werder have seen a goalless first half. All of them have been away from home. Of the first four, they went on to win two (in Munich and Cologne), plus one draw and one defeat.

Pieper!
Ducksch delivers the free-kick towards the near post. Pieper stoops and gets his head to it. Excellent reaction stop from Trapp by his post to claw it clear.

Second booking
A mistimed tackle from the Frenchman as he scythes down Agu on the run deep into the Frankfurt half.
44'
Straight at the goalkeeper
A corner late in the half for Frankfurt. Good jump and header from Tuta, but he plants it straight into the arms of Zetterer.
42'
Marmoush denied
A tough one for the Egyptian as he opens his right boot to meet a low cross from the left. It's too close to Zetterer but easily could've been the opener.

Busy Ebimbe
Half of Eintracht's 14 entries into the final third have come down the right wing, predominantly through the industrious Dina Ebimbe.
32'
Real scramble
Not the best few seconds for the Bremen defence as Marmoush cuts out a Zetterer pass and then Friedl makes a hash of clearing a Götze cross. It eventually falls to Dina Ebimbe, but he smashes over. A reprieve for the visitors.

Opening up
The game's really burst to life now with both teams looking to get forward at pace. The backtracking Friedl now sticks out a leg to just prevent a cross from posing a threat in the box.

Big chance for Stage!
Excellent play by Werder as they one-touch their way through the Frankfurt defence. Stage is onto the final pass but again can't beat Trapp, who sticks out a leg once more to keep the game goalless.

Marmoush into the book
First card of the weekend as he takes down Schmid in midfield.
18'
Marmoush!
Collins goes long to Marmoush up the inside right. He lets it drop over his shoulder, bounce and then smashes it on goal. Zetterer can only parry and then has to scramble to clear before Knauff, and seems to hurt himself in the process.

Schmid! Offside...
Bremen go long now with a ball over the top for makeshift forward Schmid. He's through and only has Trapp to beat, but the Eintracht keeper stands up and makes an excellent save with his leg. Flag then goes up for offside anyway.

Nobody on the end
First foray forward from the visitors as Agu swings in a cross from the left. It goes over everyone and through to Weiser on the opposite side. He goes for a cross as well. Again it misses everyone in the middle.
6'
Max over
Good pressing from Knauff and he wins the ball off Pieper. Marmoush can't get a shot away but he knocks it back to Max, who shifts it onto his stronger left peg. Powerful but off target from 15 yards.
2'
Tuta central
Early confirmation that Tuta has shifted forward into holding midfield, with Götze ahead of him. Dina Ebimbe is wide on the right, Collins the right of the back three.

All set
The two teams are out at Deutsche Bank Park, including home mascot Attila. We're almost ready to go...
United Frankfurt, United Europe
Club captain Trapp is doing his bit to highlight the importance of European unity and integration, in keeping with the 'Eintracht' ('United') in 'Eintracht Frankfurt'.
Nick Woltemade on his way
The Bremen striker drops to the bench today, having this week agreed a deal to join Bundesliga rivals Stuttgart in the summer. The 22-year-old is yet to score in 34 Bundesliga appearances for the club he joined in 2010, aged eight.
Who is Nnamdi Collins?
It's a fair question! The 20-year-old central defender is a product of the Dortmund youth system, and winner of the U19s Bundesliga and regional youth league with his boyhood club. Since moving to Eintracht last summer, he's played 13 times for the reserves in the fourth tier, whilst being an unused sub in three Bundesliga matches.
The Euro race
If Leverkusen win the DFB Cup next month, the team that finishes seventh will go into the Europa Conference League play-offs. That's currently Augsburg, though Bremen are only six points further back. Sixth (Frankfurt, as things stand) would then qualify for the Europa League groups.

More on those teams
Ellyes Skhiri is a late withdrawal for Frankfurt, forcing Dino Toppmöller into a reshuffle. Tuta moves into midfield, with Nnamdi Collins debuting in defence. Philipp Max is preferred to Niels Nkounkou at left-back, while Fares Chaïbi returns in place of the injured Hugo Ekitiké in attack. As for Bremen, defender Amos Pieper and midfielders Jens Stage and Senne Lynen are recalled.

The Frankfurt experience!
Tale of the tape
Frankfurt have lost just one of their last 23 Bundesliga home games while Werder are currently five games without a win, losing their last four. The visitors will thus be up against as they seek to reverse their fortunes at the Deutsche Bank Park.
